Yep, you read that right. It's not a joke...

A university in the United Kingdom is erecting a life-size statue of 18-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg.

"This is a statement of action to stand with Greta and take inspiration from the life-saving message she has brought to us and urgently make a difference in the world." Vice-Chancellor Joy Carter said about the plan.

That's the University of Winchester BTW.

I wonder if they modeled the statue after this image in the article?

So how much did this virtue-signaling marvel cost? $32,000. And that in the midst of staff reductions and a "mental health crisis among students..." which they do not detail in the article.

So Greta will now be immortalized as a living legend while real heroes barely have their names spoken or remembered it seems. But then, Greta is special, right?

Well. It's OK to just remove statues that you don't like these days.

It'll need 24 hour security but I bet it'll still end up in the river.

I hear the statue will have a hole in the back that you can reach up into and work her mouth like a puppet.

I'm just waiting for the university to start begging for taxpayers cash because times are hard and they're real broke.
Got to keep those entitled little brats entertained. They certainly ain't getting educated.

For they record - not all students are entitled little brats but after working at a university for over four years your eyes are really opened by the waste and stupidity that goes on.
If people knew, they would not be so keen to send their little darlings off to waste their time and money.

This Thugburn statue is peanuts.

I bet it'll be defaced the same day it's put up. If not the same day, then over night.

I am going to protest and tear it down this disgusting statue as a effigy to a oppressor of my freedom and my wallet. She is an ugly tool.

Will the statue look like John Gruden in a dress and a Heidi wig same as Gretta does?

I've never heard of the University of Winchester, and I've just had to look it up.
It appears to be a glorified teacher-training college, which expanded its facilities rapidly after 1980, and officially became a "university" in 2005.

At least statues in England are not quite as vulnerable as statues in America have been lately, but they still might be living dangerously.

You might like to know that Winchester already has a perfectly good statue of King Alfred, well-known for burning the cakes. I trust they're leaving that one alone.

This a is a perfect example of lowering the standards so far that you no longer have standards.

I think that the line in the incredibles sums thing up nicely...

When everyone is special, no one is.

Maybe.
But I can't look at her without seeing Ben Shapiro in a wig.

Ever seen them both in the same room?

I rest my case.

I think as a parent that knowing which universities champion child slave labor is a good thing.

Her statue should stay up.

Right next to the statue should be a sign stating how Greta used climate change as a means to usher in authoritarian rule that caused the deaths of millions (historically) and will do so again if people listen to her.

Her statue should be warning for all future generations.

To put things in perspective for future generations to understand, they need to erect a statue of Biden right behind her, sniffing her hair...

The same sign would apply, of course.
