Good evening!

My son and I are having a little dispute about something I’ve seen years ago. It concerns an anti tank weapon that was capable of targeting and destroying multiple tanks. As far as I can remember, after firing it (can’t remember if it was launched by air or from the ground), it spun vertically above a theater with multiple tanks, and launched individual pods from a spinning apparatus, that looked somewhat like a vertically spinning crankshaft.

Now I am not sure whether it was experimental concept or a demonstration of a weapon that is in use, it was years ago (at least 25yrs) but I am positive I’ve seen it. It could have been in a science program like tomorrows world for instance, I just don’ remember anymore.

Does anyone here perhaps know about such a weapon, and if so, what was it called? Where can I find information about it?

Thanks for taking time to read this!

An A-10 works just as well and is cheaper.

Didn't they retire those?

I think it was the BLU-108 you're talking about.

A really cool weapon.

They're A-10Cs now. They received new wings, and under the Precision Engagement program, new fire control, new ECM, PGM targeting, Helmet Mounted Integrated Targeting, all weather capability, the control stick was replaced with the F-16 stick, and the throttle with an F-15 throttle for a HOTAS upgrade, two multifunction displays, Link-16, SATCOM, and IFFCC. In 2012 they tested 600 gallon external tanks.

I have seen the video of this years ago.
very sceary.

tanks are obsolete!
just use drones and well trained soldiers.
guerrilla warfare/ special camo.
camo to block heat and other things.
they could crawl up shoot/ plant mines or remote
weapon turrets to shoot tanks or troops.
and be gone before they shoot.

I don't think the Abrams is obsolete.
Not by a long shot.

That's amazing news because the warthog was my favorite plane back when I was really hard-core into planes. To think those badass M-fers are not only still flying but have been upgraded and are even more capable makes me happy. Thanks for the info!

That indeed looks a lot like the weapon I am talking about!
Thank you so very much! I was beginning to doubt myself.

This means my son has to make good on his bluff, which was he’d run around the street, butt naked, for half an hour. Now I’m not that mean, but I’ll expect him to run around the garden for five minutes. Just enough to not freeze his pecker off!

Thanks once again.

Yes! Thanks!

It’s exactly as I remembered it. Thank you also, in fact, thank you all for helping me. I knew this place would yield an answer. You guys are truly a knowledge base.

I will try to make a decent picture of my son doing his backyard exercise in 2 minus celcius.
