The explosions shattered a period of relative calm after Islamic State lost the territory it controlled in Iraq and Syria in 2019. The blasts highlight the security challenges facing Iraq after the U.S. withdrew much of its military presence from the country in the last days of the Trump administration.
The bombing provides US President Joe Biden with an early opportunity to show US support for Iraq. Biden has said that the US is “back” and the world can expect the US to care again about foreign policy and work multilaterally to solve problems.
Coalition Spokesman Col. Wayne Marotto said that it sends “our condolences to those affected by the attack in Baghdad today. This is yet another instance of terrorists killing fellow Iraqis & harms those who seek peace.” The recently appointed Middle East coordinator for policy under Biden, Brett McGurk, was a former envoy for the US-led Coalition against ISIS. An expert on Iraq, he will take a keen interest in addressing the issues in the wake of the bombing.

Oh hell yeah, back to the forever war!
MIC MIC MIC
After President Barack Obama left just under 10,000 troops in Afghanistan, Mr. Trump ordered about 3,000 more to the country in 2017 before beginning a drawdown that has resulted in about 4,500 there today. He also increased troop levels in Syria, where American forces have battled the Islamic State, from about 500 under Mr. Obama to nearly 2,500 before dropping to a current level of 750
The missing piece here is that tens of thousands of forces are deployed all across the Middle East, supporting ongoing operations in the region and beyond,” said Dana Stroul, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. “The president has even increased the U.S. military presence in Saudi Arabia. None of those forces have been withdrawn over the course of his term.

Didn't take long for Biden to take a dip in my estimations. I didn't really have much of an opinion of him but this is a bad move.
Shame!
Joe Biden presents himself as an empathetic guy who is willing to go the extra mile to help people overcome their personal tragedies.
However, Biden has throughout his career endorsed policies that caused countless personal tragedies for millions of people.
The best example is his support for the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.
It led to the deaths and wounding of thousands of U.S. soldiers, killing of an estimated one million Iraqis, and destabilization of a wide swath of the Middle East.........

At least we dont have Trump hurting people's feelings. Death and destruction is so much less offensive.

News flash, it never went away, and stop using this as some form of excuse to say Trump was better, if anything he was more evil, he still bombed Syria and still assassinated people through drone strikes.
That's hilarious

Yeah....those were some people that did something.....I am sure they were super progressive and just never had the chance to really have their personal truths discussed. They were just misunderstood.

He bombed ISIL. ISIL was propped up and supported by elements of our own military industrial complex in order to overthrow governments and cause chaos and death all over the middle east to justify our continued military intervention and occupation if the area. There is nothing hilarious about any of it, millions of lives have already been lost and millions more are at stake.
