Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, has told associates that he believes President Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is pleased that Democrats are moving to impeach him, believing that it will make it easier to purge him from the party

This appears to be business as usual... the political machine is turning in such a way that Trump is being drummed out of the GOP. Now McConnell has turned on him. It won’t be much longer until the MAGA voices are persona non grata in the GOP.

The New York Times spews more lies than truth. Since CNN is repeating that article, the odds of it being a lie are closer to 90%.

Mitch McConnell said himself that he is not going to call the Senate back before they are due to come back in session on the 19th.

“Said to be”...it is real sad when the news nowadays works off of speculation and anonymity.

You and the Times should be ashamed

Remove Trump lose voters to Trump. Trump has more support from voters than the Rep party does which we will see play out in the future!

Trump is now a living Martyr who's following will continue to grow/strengthen has the new fraud POTUS & VPOTUS show their cards.

The real truth about the electoral coup will get out in time!

Its going to be a very interesting time.

Who did he tell? Were they "people close to him" or "anonymous sources"?

ChinaGoogle has buried the articles but if you go to DuckDuckGo you can find them. Here is one where Mitch McConnell says he will not call the Senate back in session before the 19th.

He cut the snippet off mid-sentence...the rest of the sentence was " according to people familiar with his thinking"
He didn't tell anybody.
They're guessing

Is this surprising? While I am sure this is over your level given posting history, McConnell never care for Trump in the first place. McConnell is a RINO. Trump is to the Republican party much like how Bernie or Tulsie was initially to Democrats The Republicans just weren't able to sabotage Trumps campaign in 2016 like Democrats did Bernie / Tulsi.

LOL....is "associates" the new term for "sources"?

Impeachment can't even happen in the time frame they have. It is technically impossible because the vote in the senate would come AFTER the Biden inauguration.

This is FAKE NEWS and more REEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Pretty much. Trump brought a new life into the party because he was doing what the average Main Street voter wanted. The GOP is beholden to big business.

If you remember during Trumps campaign, it was Trump that made illegal immigration an issue. The GOP had basically taken the same position as Democrats on illegal immigration. Remember, it was Trump that was slamming NAFTA, not the establishment Republicans. It was Trump wanting to withdraw from the MIddle East, not the establishment Republicans.

Liz Cheney issued a statement today saying that she WILL vote to impeach Trump.

"On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic.
Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.
I will vote to impeach the President.

Why wouldn't MAGA be any different than the Tea Party in they influenced some changes and then went away?
