From: News.com.au: British troops could replace Italians
THE head of the British army has said that Britain has the capacity to help replace Italian troops in Iraq were they to pull out of the country
A British defence official admitted to The Independent that there was not much appetite to dispatch more troops to Iraq among other allies.
The remarks came as organisers of a major anti-war demonstration in London today predicted that at least 100,000 people would march through the centre of the British capital.
From: BBC: Protests call for Iraq withdrawal
Demonstrations will take place in over 30 cities across the world as part of an international day of action.
The coalition said Saturday's protest has been "hardened" by the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz as chairman of the World Bank.
Convenor Lindsey German said: "The nomination of Wolfowitz, the man who is recognised as chief architect of war with Iraq, will outrage most decent people."
