Its getting spooky now..
I can see a situation in the future where some hacker gets into the comms of some country,and sends a deepfake which will start a war.

Weve already had a case of "audio deepfakery" where someone managed to get the voice print of some CEO,and got money transfered fraudulently.

Potentially very dangerous technology...I am trying to see the positives-useful for movies/comedy I suppose.
But does that outweigh the potential for abuse?
I don't know.

TBF it may help Bidens cause if they ran everything he says through some kind of AI tool which corrects mistakes.
He may even get his own name/wifes name/day of the week/town he is in correct if that happened.

I see that your reply is the key message from that video. While you struggle to see the ''up'' side of this technology I doubt it exists. Sure it might be fun for a while to watch things like Humphrey Bogart doing porn scenes with Taraji P Henson but beyond that what's the up side. The down side though far outweighs the fun we might have with it.

The old adage of ''I saw it with my own eyes'' is now out the door. Trusting our own senses is a bedrock of our very being, and even that we know to be wrong much of the time. Now though,well, even though you say you '' don't know'', I think you really do because you are right when you say it's very dangerous technology. We can toss that ''potentially'' out the window.

We are facing existential crisis' the likes of we have never even considered.

That aside I loved the video.

Yeah the potential for misdeeds through this tech is almost unfathomable.

I was thinking about how it may affect things on a societal level as well-

I have witnessed more than once,imbeciles arguing over something trivial which spills into violence-everyones filming of course...cops arrive and everyone is ramming their phones at the cops to see the evidence of who started it.

A quick blast on a deepfake app may well be enough to influence the cops in the heat of the moment to arrest the wrong person.

Also,knowing how cruel people can be on social media-It would be very easy to destroy someones life with a deepfake of them doing something awful/criminal.
We have already seen crude versions of this with people photoshopping images.

It is very dangerous-like you say if we can't trust anything we see-how do we make informed choices about anything?
The only people I see benefiting from this are the devious types.

Looking at our existence from the perspective that this is all illusion anyway, this just compounds it to a higher degree.
If nothing else it could drive us all back to realities that are defined only by our immediate surroundings where this ''electronic reality'' might not intrude on us quite so much.

Yup... I remember an interview once a few years ago with Obama, he admitted that deepfakes would be one of the most dangerous tools against democracy.

Sometimes I felt as if Biden was a deepfake in a lot of his messages.
