Rumours have been bouncing around for a while that Baywatch will hit the big screen, but news that Steven Spielberg will be behind the project has left us flabbergasted!

But, yes, according to the New York Post, Spielberg has purchased the movie rights to the hit TV show from its co-creator Greg Bonann, and plans to make the movie in 2006.

Who knew he had such a sharp sense of humour?
