I think it's laughable that 'hemp' and 'marijuana', although related, are not even the same plant.

The feds are just too dumb to tell the difference, hence hemp being banned!!

In and of itself, the legislation (aside from the taxes part) really doesn't bother me.

Here in CO, I can't really see that it's had that much adverse effect...other than attracting a bunch of liberals to the state for only this reason. I don't smoke the stuff myself.

I don’t smoke it either, but the medical benefits are above reproach. My wife suffers from wide angle glaucoma, the use of real CBD oil in a tincture form has saved her vision. It’s borderline illegal in our state so periodically I have to visit your beautiful state to obtain her medicine. The dose that’s she is on is so low it has no effect on her daily life, but it does keep the ocular pressure in check.
I have never seen much of a reason for the foolish laws that we have, but I could say that about most of government.

The ban was for the hemp, it was lobbied for by the cotton industry. The marijuana was the excuse to get the law passed.

The cotton industry was afaraid of hemp making a much better product so they put money in to get the laws passed to get rid of that compitition.

There was a hemp field just down the road from me. My-heavenly-days did that patch'a land stink.

Had a hemp shirt when I was a kid. It's the only shirt I can remember ... it was that nice.

The 'law' was written to protect the favored people's profits. That kind of shenanigan should cancel one's citizenship.

As far as I know, there are two types of cannabis plants: Indica and Sativa.

Hemp plants are simply Sativa plants that have less than .03% THC....other than that they are the same species of plant. There is no way to tell a Sativa marijuana plant and a Sativa Hemp plant without lab tests to determine the THC content.

I once sent some legally grown cannabis to get tested at the universities gaschromatagraph (spelling?), the grad student didnt really know how to deal with it and we got an unusually high reading. Spoke with them about the testing process and yeah, it was his fault.

I cant elaborate because T&C as its not legal in everywhere, but just because they have a lab coat, doesnt meant they know the dope.

Or they just want us too dumb to know the difference. They know few people will ever look it up for themselves.

It is the same plant. Industrial hemp growers here do find their "no THC" strains actually do revert to having THC given the right water and nutrients. Growing industrial hemp you really dont need to irrigate and feed it, growing marketable cannabis you do.

As the Sativa and Indica, Sativa is preferred for industrial hemp because it grows taller and so has longer fibers, but both can produce THC and the other canibonoids that are sought for medicinal cannabis.

Alcohol, is a much more destructive drug, that each year kills thousands if not millions. It also ruins lives, causes people to have bad judgement, etc. alcohol is also big portions of local governments income with DUI/DWI charges etc. I have always lost my mind trying to understand why cannabis sativa, is illegal but alcohol after the age of 21 is ok.

Btw it was our criminal politician MR. Nixon, who made it illegal. So that helps make sense of it all.

Decriminalizing this plant is long over due..

Same plant. The difference is strain. Its like saying Great Danes and Teacup Chihuahuas aren't the same species...they are. Just different breeds.

There's no way there's death penalty for any kind of pot distribution.

I was exaggerating. The last time I checked it was something like up to 10 years and a huge fine. You can never be sure what they will do exactly.

If legalized at the federal level...

The big producers in Colorado and other currently legal states will have a huge advantage...they can ship their product where ever and local weed shops will be forced to rely solely on them until they can get their own growing set up and matured to process.

Might be a good time to invest in some of the large "legal" growers.

No they aren't the same. Hemp is bred to have low THC and used to make things like paper. Cannabis is bred to have low CBD and High THC. CBD keeps you from getting high. You can buy different types of Cannabis seeds with different ranges of Cannabinoid's. Get high cannabis usually has less than 1% CBD and 12 to 30% THC. I have grown cannabis with only 4% THC and 20% CBD. I use that for my asthma caused from allergies. You don't get high off of it. CBD works better with at least some THC also.

Double-whammy. A chemically and mpaired citizenry is a compliant public that will more easily accept poverty.

Chemically numb and dumb down the people (as if alcohol and other "vices" aren't enough) and tax the crap out of them them to participate. It's about control and income.

Can you say "Chavez"?

Take time to review history for stats on the increase in alcoholism in newly minted communist and socialist governed countries - it's massive. When populations become unhappy, alcohol use rises significantly. Pot's just another medium.

Follow the money. Politicians have been drooling over cartel profits for years - they don't like competition and can't wait to dip their greedy-ass fingers in that honeypot.

This has nothing to do with benefiting American citizens.

The burden is on you.........PROVE that Hemp and cannabis are two separate plants.

Hint: They are the same plant.....Hemp is nothing but a strain of cannabis sativa with low THC.

Hemp vs. marijuana

Like marijuana, hemp is a cannabis plant known as Cannabis sativa. The main difference between marijuana and hemp is how much THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol) it contains. THC is responsible for marijuana's mind-altering effects.
