WTF Alberta just declared all indoor social gatherings illegal

I live in Canada, I have family in Edmonton. I am flabberghasted at this.

Effective immediately, all indoor social gatherings will be illegal

Premier Jason Kenney:

"For the first time in the history of our province, we've just told people that they're not allowed to have anybody over to their homes," he said. "And they're going to be fined if they do.

"If you're holding indoor social events, they're now illegal. That's pretty astonishing. And those rules will be enforced to our greatest ability."

SOCIAL GATHERINGS

Effective immediately, all indoor social gatherings – which Kenney called “the key reason why COVID-19 is winning” – are banned across the province.

Outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people.

Weddings and funerals will be limited to 10 people. Receptions are prohibited.

Those who live alone are allowed to have two non-household close contacts.

The premier said Alberta police would enforce the new rules and that the province was looking for ways to have peace officers deliver fines as well. Violations could result in a ticket up to $1,000 or a $100,000 penalty through the court system.

Heard about this last night. Utterly ridiculous. I remember the thing I read mentioned outdoor. gatherings are legal...that might as well be a joke for Alberta at this time of year though. It's already negative temperatures there.(Celsius for the confused barbarians among us.)

I'm in New Brunswick and our health minister is forcing us to mask outside, yes thats right outside in the fresh air or face a $289.00 fine, I almost want one to fight it in court.

Listen closely, I hear the drums of war, and they are getting louder by the hour.

This must be protested.
It must be made known that any attempt to enforce this kind of crap will cause much more trouble than just letting people be.
Any officer or agent that tries to enforce this nonsense should be hung upside down by their ankles and get the full pinata treatment.

According to someone else, my neighbour (who is my friend, ffs!) threated to shoot my kids kneecaps out because they had friends over at the beginning of the pandemic. He always jokes around a lot but I've felt angry and protective since. He joked about my roosters ending up in his stew pot because of the crowing and, of course, never did it. We laughed back then. My kids... not funny.

Has it occurred to anyone to ask him just exactly what the "maximum" restrictions would be if these are the minimum? Wonder if it has anything to do with those Provincial Internment Camps the Canadian Government forgot to tell everyone they were flash-building in a City near you.

I think the 100,000 is for hosting large parties while the 750 for each guest, cause some people have been fined that much in Ontario, since the first lockdown.

Still, Alberta not known to be the most urban of places.

And it is, almost without even a whimper, being accepted. I don't actually have words anymore to describe the level of psychosis that now exists.

This march towards a totalitarian regime is sad to see. Aside from the totalitarianism have people forgotten already how these things end FFS. This has been tried numerous times throughout human history AND IT HAS NEVER WORKED. The worst case in recent history was CAMBODIA FFS, people need to look at it and get their heads around it, and they'd better not be telling themselves that it couldn't possibly happen here.
