A long time ago, I was an overnight grocery stocker. During Thanksgiving, keeping the Cool Whip in stock and on display was the #1 priority for the frozen department.

On the Cool Whip are instructions for thawing out your Cool Whip.

Dude.

Anybody who thaws out their Cool Whip is doing it 100% wrong.

Slap that frozen sheet on your cakes and pies frozen right out of the freezer.

It's pie a la mode au Cool Whip.

If you're not doing it this way, just give up.

Why would someone do that?

Erm, ok, but you can keep it while I whip up some real fresh whipped cream from scratch. Even the canned refrigerated stuff isn't as good. Peppermint Vanilla and Orange Vanilla are my kids favorites. Cheap, doesn't take much sugar, and I have an excuse to buy a wider variety of extracts, lol.

Why would someone do that?

Why would anyone intentionally buy, then ingest toxic poisons?

Cool Whip Original is made of water, hydrogenated vegetable oil (including coconut and palm kernel oils), high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup... ok, I can stop there having proven my point.

The ' h'Whip ' spelling in the title.... Is that a reference to Family Guy?

Yeah, the ingredient list is kinda gross. My husband is allergic to dairy, so if he wants a whipped-like topping on something, he buys Cool Whip, but I really cant stomach much of it -- so oily it's almost greasy to me. Yuck.

More than likely!

I wanted to correct him and say "Coo' hWhip" though. Stewie was light on enunciating the L.

That's what they use in restaurants.

Which is why I limit my restaurant visitations to only those that publish all of their ingredients, and only use organic/local.

Yeah, that kind of drastically limits the restaurants I can go to, but thats ok, I much prefer home cooked anyway.

You work in a restaurant that uses that crap? It takes all of a few minutes to beat some whip cream.

People really don't know how easy real whipped cream is to make. Some heavy cream/whipping cream, a little sugar, a little vanilla extract, a few minutes of using a mixer (I use a hand-held, don't have a stand mixer) and boom, done. And maybe some gelatin powder if you don't want to re-whip back to fluffiness later if there's leftover.

And it's so damn easy to customize the flavor more creatively. Like I said, Peppermint Vanilla, and Orange Vanilla, damn good stuff. The Peppermint Vanilla is EXCELLENT on chocolate mint ice cream!

No but I saw them using it in a well-known pancake restaurant.

It's stupid easy, which is why I'm surprised when anyone eats that stuff.

Not surprised that a chain would be using that. I don't eat at any place the Sysco truck stops at.

If I'm taking the trouble to make my own dessert at home ... I'll whip my own.

This Thursday, we'll likely buy a pie off the grocery store deli because we'll be making everything else from scratch, so it will have cool whip on it because that's what they do at the grocery store. Honestly, I don't do a lot of sweets in my house, so this will be a rare thing to even have a pie at all and it will be a small one.

Stupid and disgusting. Might as well inject oil directly into your blood stream.
