Police break up large Berlin protests as legislature debates tougher coronavirus laws

Several thousand people protested in Berlin against the German government's push to enshrine coronavirus restrictions into an existing law. Police intervened as the crowds sought to approach the parliament. . . .

Some 190 protesters were arrested and nine police officers were hurt in the clashes that ensued, Berlin police said.

Water cannon employed. Demonstrators shouting "We -are- the People!" (in imitation of 1989 in East Germany).

Not unheard of in Germany, but still notable. Even so, my amateur take on the German situation is that support for Merkel's policies remains firm, if not as firm as a few years ago. Public anger at Covid restrictions can be found in other parts of Europe as well.

Cheers

Hey now!

.02% of the population is dead!

That's almost as bad as flu or natural cause...
