I don't think the masks pictured are the ones recommended for public use.

But like bigfatfurrytexan points out they will be required for the COVID 19 wards and the like.

Which is probably why the NHS requires them sharpish.

I'm sure i have seen people kicking about in the UK with N95 masks on building sites and the like, could be wrong all the same.

Anyhoo cheers for the info.

The Americans invented the N95 and then outsourced the manufacturing of them.

They had to import the masks at a much higher rate during the crisis.

But let’s not advert our attention from the ineffectiveness of the U.K Government and the amount of money they have spaffed against the wall during this crisis.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. And line the pockets of their donors.

How much has the track and trace cost now?

Around £10 billion and still isn't fully working.

Absolutely deplorable.

N95 masks (the ones pictured) don't do what needs to be done according to the "experts". The idea is you need to stop what is being breathed out. N95 does not do this at all. Breathing out is unfiltered. Breathing in is filtered. So they'd work great to keep people on a COVID unit from getting sick. Would do next to nothing at keeping someone with COVID from infecting others.

Is that the case with non valve n95? I wouldn't think so..valve type..I agree!

The reason i was asking is that the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th-year pupils in my kid's School are now required to wear a mask whilst in class.

And i was just wanting to make sure she changes it, or its washed for her at appropriate regular intervals.

Probably just give her the disposable ones to wear each day that way i know its new.

End of the day i don't imagine the rule will be particularly enforced, or any way enforceable, considering social distancing in our Schools is pretty much just window dressing all the same.

It’s a Tory ip off.

They have fleeced us of £Billions, now sitting in offshore accounts. Yet, Corbyn was the one to fear. 😂😂😂

It depends on the design of the mask. My one contains a disposable N95 filter which goes across the whole mask and so filters breath in and out.

The masks in question are for hospital staff, wards, and ICU methinks.

As to the pics, think that's might be The Guardian's fault.

Either way fraud with masks at a time like this!

Well, that's not Pea and Ham with Chicken that's for sure.

Washing it at 60c for 10mins will disinfect it which kills most bugs.

PMSL at all you deniers.

We are talking about the masks being used on COVID wards, and there you are arguing that they are only good enough in those environments.

Regardless of their effectiveness, the fact that £45million has been wasted doesn’t seem to matter. Yet, if it was a left leaning Government, you would all be jumping up and down, bemoaning the fact communism doesn’t work and here is your proof.

Think about it for a moment, before jumping in for the sakes of it.

I was actually thinking that I'm glad he said that - I've seen people wearing these around incorrectly and now I can educate folks I see doing this!
