In my opinion "Satan" is a personality trait as experienced sociologically and environmental adversity as experienced in nature. Things that oppose.

In people call it "The Type S Personality".

In your standard DSM text book it may be listed as "Oppositional Defiant Disorder".

The parable within stories like that of Prometheus or Lucifer carry with them a core trait inexorable from that which would be an opposer. The inability to submit on personal ideological grounds. Usually a ego-driven exception taken to the status quo, often decrying some form of nepotism. It's iconoclasm to orthodoxy.

An interesting example, and a figure somewhat like Lucifer is Buddah. If Hindu conventions are equal to standard Christian orthodoxy.

He took enough issue with Status Quo that he cut off his hair with a sword and rejected the life of a top-caste Prince to contest many things, including the existence of Atman, which is the Eastern equivalent of the Holy Trinity.

I see "Satan" along the these lines. Not necessarily evil, but a naturally occuring anthitheisis or accuser to standard convention.

It is an adversity to homogeneous thought or form.

Another example was a person named Joshua who got himself executed by Rome orthodoxy decrying status quo once upon a time.

Guys, please you give me way too much credit.
Your character and your decisions are all yours.

You should be grateful. Don't you think I have more reasons than anybody else to reunite with God? After all I knew him intimately and you don't and most of you never will.
Ha!
Best regards
Lucy

That's the catch in the contract buddy! Who's been feeding him willfully? To me it looks like entranced zombies following orders, its not free will if you have been conditioned to consume and obey since you could open your eyes, that's entrapment.

However the deception that's being played in you is being played by yourself, the all is in the all and your idea of hell is drawn to you by your own fears,
The powers that be only supply the poisons, they can't force it down your throat... But when you willfully gorge on it with blissful innocence and ignorance because that's how you have been trained, is that free will?
I say no, so my contract is null and void, not playing the game no more, I will watch.

But a God who lives outside the laws of duality wouldn't be affected by them, good and evil, negative and positive, may just be needed interactive energies that make growth, change and evolution possible.

Evil is real. Satan is real.

What do you mean by that you will “have to let go of attachments” to get your place in heaven? That’s a Buddhist deal, the letting go of attachments. We are supposed to have some attachments- to people we love and to ideals and beliefs that are good.

Eating from the tree of knowledge of good and bad is how you are banished from heaven!!

I've come to the conclusion that Satan is real. I know it sounds crazy and the truth is I thought religions were a load of crap but I was wrong.

Sure religions have been used to enslave mankind. There is no arguing against that. When you dig a little bit deeper though, you quickly realize that the powers that be have been manipulating us with the concept of half truths. Nobody really knows what is the purpose of life and there is a reason why this knowledge is being hidden from us.

So, the Devil is the Lord of lies. We have been living in a world shaped by anything but truth. We lie to our childrens about everything, from Santa Claus to Halloween, and we make them believe that life is only good. Which it isn't.
Then, we all grow up and quickly understand that it is one hell of a ride.

I've seen the Devil with my own eyes. It is not what you think. It's hidden right in front of our eyes, all around us. Satan is wicked as # and he is working to bring us down with him. I still respect and love him because without Satan we would never had the chance to experience this fun but crazy reality. To be fair, I'm just as guilty as you guys. Sinning every #ing day. And I'm totally attached to my TV and video games. At least, I understand that this world in its current state is a blasphemy to God. I know I'm gonna have to let go of my attachments if I ever want to have a chance to get my place in heaven. Please, be smarter than the ones who truly believe in nothing. We are all gonna be judged in the end. The end of times, all of mankind have been speaking about it. My advice to you-

Make sure you are in peace with yourself and the choices you made in the past because the final jugdment is gonna come when you least expect it. I've had dreams about it. And it's gonna take us all by surprise.

Ofc I know I don't have any tangible proof of Satan's existence. You gotta have to take my word for it but I've seen him. I've asked for the truth and I feel like it was delivered. I could even go as far as saying that somekind of hidden truth about ancient civilizations was given to me. But that's a subject for another time.

My point is, you probably never considered that the Devil is more than a simple metaphor. Ask yourself this, why is every cultures around the world telling stories about the personification of evil? We might be one of the first civilization to deny the existence of God and Satan. Not smart at all.

So what if Satan is real? What would it mean for you guys and your perception of reality?

Nope, Satan is not real. Maybe it makes people feel better to blame all the horrors that we see around the world in some evil being. Sad fact is, the evil we see around the world is caused by us, and no one else.

It's the people in power that control us. What we watch, what we do, what our beliefs are, if we go to war or not, it's all down to them.

It seems easier to blame a make believe character, but the fact is, that is humans are the ones, and no one else.

Just kept the really juicy stuff, or is it the farm animal kind?

If you feel guilty watching porn, don't do it. Live with no regrets. Your time in front of the great white throne might come at an inopportune time. You have to get at least a 70% on the quiz to get in, study hard.

Well, if there is a principality of the negative (negating what? Life? Love of others? Truth?) in a physical form, then the poor thing must be really bored because it's "job" is way too easy.

Throw pure, individuated souls into a place where want of limited physical materials causes nearly infinite suffering and the results are easily deduced. The winners must be selfish. The meek shall inherit the Earth? How? The only way would be to hide while the selfish slaughter each other, or the meek get another world removed from want... but then is that Earth? Plus, the meek would now inherit a crappy, glazed, radioactive creation, inheriting nada.

It all boils down to what your definition of is is (speaking of personified evil, Mr Rumsfield) and whether your creator would create unpleasant test worlds for his beloved children, and importantly, what would the characteristics of those who passed the test be?

Tough love, indeed.

Another thought is that those working to evenly distribute the limited materials enabling life and ease of suffering are really doing good works. Godless communists? Really?

Following this train of thought of physicality, selflessness and love, would not the ultimate good be to remove oneself from the material world to reduce competition for material subsistence?

This good/bad thing is complicated... outside of mustache twisting villains bullying innocents, anyway.

I'll admit I've encountered things that seemed "evil," human and other, but the motivations and posturing perplex me.

But darnit, at least the adversary enabled some stellar music!

I don't buy it man.
Sure you have to honor faith but it's only the first step.

Believing isn't enough. This is a lie being put forward by the Vatican so people feel like they don't have to do anything but to believe. Even the second coming of Christ is shady. People are waiting to be "saved". I would be more open to the idea of the second coming being about the full realization of God's vision on Earth.

Many people who have been told that they are “saved” seem to have little intention of either following or obeying Jesus.

One of Jesus’ disciples warned that ungodly men were “turning the undeserved kindness of our God into an excuse for loose conduct and proving false to our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.” (Jude 4) How might we, in fact, turn God’s mercy “into an excuse for loose conduct”? We could do so by assuming that Christ’s sacrifice covers deliberate sins that we intend to keep on committing rather than sins of human imperfection that we are trying to put behind us. Surely we would not want to agree with one of America’s best-known evangelists, who said that you do not have to “clean up, give up, or turn around.”—Contrast Acts 17:30; Romans 3:25; James 5:19, 20.

Belief Prompts Action

Many people have been told that “believing on Jesus” is a single act and that our faith does not have to be strong enough to prompt obedience. But the Bible disagrees. Jesus did not say that people who begin the Christian course are saved. Instead, he said: “He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22) The Bible likens our Christian course to a race, with salvation being the prize at its end. And it urges: “Run in such a way that you may attain it.”—1 Corinthians 9:24.

Thus, “accepting Christ” involves far more than just accepting the blessings that Jesus’ superlative sacrifice offers. Obedience is required. The apostle Peter says that judgment starts “with the house of God,” and adds: “Now if it starts first with us, what will the end be of those who are not obedient to the good news of God?” (1 Peter 4:17) So we must do more than simply hear and believe. The Bible says that we must “become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving [ourselves] with false reasoning.”—James 1:22.

Salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned. Yet it does require effort on our part. If someone offered you a very valuable gift and you did not show enough appreciation to pick it up and take it with you, your lack of gratitude might prompt the giver to present it to someone else.

The Bible says: “A man is declared righteous by faith apart from works of law.” It also says: “A man is to be declared righteous by works, and not by faith alone.” Which is right? Are we declared righteous by faith or by works?—Romans 3:28; James 2:24.

The harmonious answer from the Bible is that both are correct.

For centuries the Law that God gave through Moses had required Jewish worshipers to make specific sacrifices and offerings, to observe festival days, and to conform to dietary and other requirements. Such “works of law,” or simply “works,” were no longer necessary after Jesus provided the ultimate sacrifice.—Romans 10:4.

But the fact that these works performed under the Mosaic Law were replaced by Jesus’ superlative sacrifice did not mean that we can ignore the Bible’s instructions. It says: “How much more will the blood of the Christ . . . cleanse our consciences from [the older] dead works that we may render sacred service to the living God?”—Hebrews 9:14.

How do we “render sacred service to the living God”? Among other things, the Bible tells us to combat the works of the flesh, to resist the world’s immorality, and to avoid its snares. It says: “Fight the fine fight of the faith,” put off “the sin that easily entangles us,” and “run with endurance the race that is set before us, as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus.” And the Bible urges us not to ‘get tired and give out in our souls.’—1 Timothy 6:12; Hebrews 12:1-3; Galatians 5:19-21.

We do not earn salvation by doing these things, for no human could ever do enough to merit such an astounding blessing. We are not worthy of this magnificent gift, though, if we fail to demonstrate our love and obedience by doing the things that the Bible says God and Christ want us to do. Without works to demonstrate our faith, our claim to follow Jesus would fall far short, for the Bible clearly states: “Faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.”—James 2:17. (Alternate rendering: “So, too, faith by itself, without works, is dead.”)

Satan is a construct of the church when some people started getting interested in worshiping Pan. That is why he has horns and hooves in most descriptions.

The church says "Don't even look at that. It is evil and you will burn for worshiping that".

All organized religions are created by man. Satan is man made.

One of my former bands used quite a bit of Satanic imagery, around the time I decided it would be a good idea to tattoo a large, very evil-looking goat on my forearm with an upside star weaved in and out of it’s horns. It certainly struck up some conversations that I did not expect and I was surprised how people reacted towards it. Maybe I shouldn’t have been. It was in 2004, so I figured we’d kind of moved passed the Satanic Panic thing. Shortly after, I added the words “Man Made” right above it.

I find the idea that there’s an evil being influencing people quite lazy. It completely allows for people to pass the back on to something else. My stepmother is from the Philippines, she’s very....I don’t want to call her naive, but that’s the only word coming to my mind right now. Put it this way, when she got here, she asked my father “Where are all the dinosaurs?”, to which my dad replied, “WTF are you talking about?”, she legitimately thought we had dinosaurs still existing in the US. She’s from Bagio, which is for the most part, very third world. A couple years back, she was angry with my dad due to his hoarding issue (he’s a legit hoarder) and when they were arguing, she said “I am feeling Satan inside of me. I do not want Satan in me but I am angry and it is Satan making me angry.”, which I found interesting.

She has the right to be pissed off, she works very hard and despite the amount of cleaning she does, my father will come in the house and just trash the place. He brings home random sh*t nonstop, can’t afford it and you literally can’t walk through their house without tripping on sh*t. Then I hear my father using it against her, telling her to go pray that Satan leaves her so she can be happy.....and away she went to pray.

Blew my f*cking mind. My father, who is in church every Sunday and sits beside her when they have their weekly bible study, completely used the idea of Satan being real against her and got himself off the hook. The next day I told her she has every right to be angry with him and just because she’s angry, it does not mean Satan is controlling her. I’m not sure she could comprehend it. I also told my father that what he did was straight up f*cking wrong and he knows it, to which he scoffed at.

Jesus met a personified Devil after his 40 day fast. If you believe in Him and that it was not a lie made by the disciples then you are required to acknowledge this fact by logic. Or stop pretending.
This entity claimed that it can make deals, that this world was "delivered" to it and it can hand over power over it.

IMO we are or were meant to rule over this entity as a spirit over matter, power and principalities. Not the other way around.
