The Rainy Night,TFT2020

The rain was pouring down hard and the swishing sound of my wipers
kept me focused on the road.I was a little put out with myself for
waiting so long to start my trip.I heard the weatherman warn that
storms were in the forecast for evening commutes.I didn't heed his
warning and still set out on my long car trip.
I don't know how long I had been driving when I first saw them.I couldn't
believe my eyes,two young children walking along the side of the road.
The children were wearing jeans and hoodies and the rain was just
starting to slow up some.As I drove nearer to them,one child suddenly
stuck out his thumb.I have always made it a rule to never pick up any
hitchhikers.I thought to myself but these are children and I stopped my
car.
The two children approached the driver's window and I could see they were
two little boys.I slightly lowered my window and asked if they needed any
help.The older boy asked me if I would give them a ride home.I started
having a strange feeling about these two.Finally, the younger child whined
about wanting to go home because he was hungry. As I reached to lower
my window even more,that's when I noticed their eyes,they were totally
black! I quickly raised the window and put my foot on the gas pedal.I don't
know what they were,but they weren't children.
After I drove off,I looked into my rear view mirror and the children were gone.
I swore after this incident,I would never stop for a hitchhiker again.
