My favorites are all the Hammer Film Productions with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

en.wikipedia.org...

They have quite a few different Dracula, Frankenstein and Mummy films.

Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman is one of our favorites for Halloween - though maybe a bit intense for a 10 yr old...

Lost boys
Fright night (original)
Halloween
The Thing
Werewolf in London

I watched all of these around the age of 10, and 4 of them are still high up in my fav films of all time list.

We figure that we're definitely doing Lost Boys.

The Thing is another good one.

Van Helsing ... maybe. It has a good amount of action if I recall correctly, and he's still at that age where too much talk gets him lost.

Poltergeist is another good possibility too. Halloween possibly too.

Then we cap it off with one that's more silly.

I guess there's also Gremlins he hasn't seen yet too.

You want silly, I got one for you, What We Do In The Shadows. Four rather idiotic vampires living together in a flat in New Zealand. They turned this into a tv show here that's even better with one of them an energy vampire that sucks life out by being boring.

I liked it but I like silly.

Yeah, as mentioned, Poltergeist is a good one.
As mentioned Trick r' Treat.

I was totally gonna suggest Lady In White. Great movie, plus I loved it and it scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
(it's also available in full on youtube)
Hope you've been doing well! It's nice to see you here

Other than The Changeling, which always gives me chills, Lady in White is a classic ghost story film I've loved since childhood.

Yes to the Changeling also! The Shining, Poltergeist, The Devil's Backbone, Stir of Echoes, The Orphanage, and The Others are all good, creepy ghost stories.
Not much can beat a good ghost story, imo

We watched Tales of Halloween last night and it was that amazing kind of Halloween vibe that's funny and ridiculous and all the stories happen on Halloween.

Like Die Hard ... but it does have monsters. So it could crossover.
