Hi everyone

I need some help backing up my Android phone. It’s a Samsung android running G610YZTU1BRF1

3 years ago I set up the Samsung backup to Samsungs Cloud.
I had to create a new password today as previously I used a different email.

My phone backup through Samsung app worked ( stating successful ) but when I went to view files on Samsung cloud site there’s nothing there.

I don’t want to use Google drive to backup my sensitive phone data.

You people were so helpful last week when I had hard disk issues

thank you

Yes. Good one.

I personally would never, ever, ever...store
anything in anyone's cloud.

Take my stuff up there and store it FOR me? Um..no. I'll buy $40 ext drives, toss em in my drawer w all my stuff...

P.S. I've done this since 2005

Hi thanks, but I want to retrieve my sms' in readable form. I've already copied both the "card" and the "phone" sim from my phone to my PC.

The reason I've been missing since I wrote the thread was because I was with Samsung technical support for 5 hrs.
In the end he told me to ring on Monday. Lol

Saved contents again to an external HD. Not much use

I use SMS Backup & Restore app.

It lets you backup SMS and call log to many cloud services and/or local copy on your phone. It creates a xml file that is readable with any text viewer or browser. I have my backups scheduled, but beware, the older backups are not overwritten, so some cleaning is required occasionally.

Everything else I normally backup manually to external HD as others have mentioned. SMSs are notoriously difficult to find and save unless you use 3rd party solutions. I don't use WhatsApp, but I'm aware full backups are done via Google services or individual threads via email; other foto/audio/video contents can be extracted from the phones memory.

You're welcome...dont know much...but am copyrighted author, musician...would never think of believing any-ones "cloud" is safe!

Offline, in my pocket, in drawer...I've got everything since '95...every "C" drive etc...

Paranoid? Perhaps. Just cautious...good luck, stay healthy!
