What have they done? I mean really? When was the last time they did anything that meaningfully helped people??? There is a sad (but true) bit of satire out today from the Babylon Bee which kind of underscores the point -

Senators Vow To Hold Big Tech Accountable By Flying Them To D.C. And Saying Mean Things To Them

We've seen so much corruption and violation of our rights in the past few years and what is the response? People on Capitol Hill yell and scream and do interviews, but nothing meaningful ever comes of it.

So what's the point of us believing ANY of these people will meaningfully uphold what we elected them to do and represent us fairly?

I say EVERYONE in Congress should be fired.

The systems are broken. It all needs to break down to ground zero, government, media, religion, currency, elected officials, education, medical... All control systems are corrupt and need to go. Then things can begin to be for people and by the people. a reply to: CIAGypsy

I have this theory about satire that I have expressed on this forum before. When we get to the point that satire expresses the actual state of things more accurately and more clearly than what is called "news," we're screwed.

That is where we are.

I think that your assessment is correct. Another idea that I've propounded here is my idea that our two-party system can be likened to two cars.

There is a blue car that is driving in a straight line toward a solid concrete wall at 200mpg.

There is a red car that is heading toward the same wall, but it is only traveling at 150mpg, and it's taking a some more circuitous route.

The questions that Americans are left to ask themselves is, Which car do you want to travel in?

See, there's the pisser. We have all along had the power to fire the good-for-nuthin-sumbeeches, but We The People were too damn lazy to pay attention to what was going on, to damn greedy to realize that the guy who got me stuff was screwing everyone (including me), to damn doped on bread and circuses to understand how things worked, that we kept voting the same ones in again and again.

This is, at the end of the day, our fault. You con complain about the corrupt politicians all you want, but another bit of wisdom that I often spout off is this:

If the farmer puts the fox in charge of the hen house, you're gonna blame the farmer and not the fox.

Sounds good, but do you realize the suffering that this would entail?

I mean, we're gonna hit that concrete wall at some point. It's inevitable. But when we do ... HOO BOY!

What if the FBI was created to protect the Syndicate in the first place?

How could the government function with these swamp creatures still in it?

The systems aren't broken so much as the people in them are. We stopped believing in the spirit of the system itself and started using the letter of it. We become a people of legalists, and then a certain group started using the legal side of the system against the rest of us to aggrandize and enrich themselves at our expense. Further, we stopped educating our children on the system and its spirit. Consequently we have a generation who look on the system as immoral and evil, but use all its systems to their benefit in attempting to destroy it.

Yea...to fire them it is called voting them out...Why does Congress have like a rating in the teens for decades and the people keep voting them back into office for DECADES!

I don't blame Congress anymore as I see now where the problem lies..So many Americans are truly ignorant in so many things...We get what we deserve...

The problem is that everyone apparently likes their personal Congress Critter and thinks all the rest are the problem.

I guess when we look at find specimens like Nancy Pelosi and Sheila Jackson Lee, they happen to be what their constituents want. Cumulatively, it all adds up.

I was thinking just this today. They are supposed to take direction from the people, but they haven’t done that in how long? They will give us little things that don’t matter, to make us not look at the completely unasked for nefarious sh!t that they ARE doing.

And we don’t do anything about it; not in enough numbers, anyway. What do we do? Tweet our “representatives?” Mail then a letter that will maybe get read in three or four months, by a little intern and then put in a pile that never gets looked at? Call them? To leave a message with their gatekeeper/secretary who will tell us they are too busy to answer our calls?

How do we fix this horrendous mess? The government has been COMPLETELY off the rails for decades, and we have all let it happen.

OP mentioned that in the post.

Babylon Bee is an awesome satire site, but I would disagree that they make it more. I would rather argue that instead our reality has just become that absurd.

They've captured your attention.

Divided among arbitrary lines.

Oh and spent enough tax dollars for 3 generations while turning their mediocre lifestyles into wealthy socialites.

All off the backs of American workers and businesses.

I'd probably pick the one that has a larger gas tank if we are going by MPG....

If you meant MPH....I would take the slower one.....more chance of survival.

I am fairly certain that everyone on ATS understand the bee is satire......we don't need a nanny to tell us like Twitter and FB.

Everyone agrees that the US government is corrupt.

The sick, M Night Shyamalan twist is, some actually (while acknowleging the corruption) want to make the corrupt government bigger and more authoritarian.
