And this is coming from a BernieOrBust supporter, who won't be supporting either

I absolutely love this 'far-left' meme thrown about by people on here as it demonstrates to me how totally clueless they are on things outside of their little partisan echo-chamber. It appears ATS has totally forgotten her roots in the common belief of who the establishment are.

For starters, it's no secret of the DNC's disdain for the Progressive wing of the party. It's been this way for some time now. We oppose the establishment, the elite, and this includes the head honchos of that party. This was clearly demonstrated back in 2016:

One email from DNC Deputy Communications Director Eric Walker to several DNC staffers cites two news articles showing Sanders leading in Rhode Island and the limited number of polling locations in the state: “If she outperforms this polling, the Bernie camp will go nuts and allege misconduct. They’ll probably complain regardless, actually.”

Instead of treating Sanders with impartiality, the DNC exhibits resentful disdain toward him and the thousands of disenfranchised voters he could have brought into the party.

Source

And again this year:

Forcing the March 17 primaries in Florida, Arizona and Illinois to go forward, despite reports of exceedingly low turnout throughout the day (which miraculously and quite expectedly turned into higher turnouts than 2016 in both Florida and Arizona by the time the final reporting came in), was the last straw. This farce occurred despite the Ohio governor postponing their primary on the same day. This slap in the face of voters was then compounded by the even worse parody of the April 7 Wisconsin primary being allowed to go ahead at the peak of the pandemic, with polling stations vastly reduced (from 180 to just 5 in Milwaukee alone) and absentee ballots often not received or recorded, while maintaining the pretense that somehow all of this constituted a legitimate election.

In the middle of the pandemic, with the entire nation considering a de facto lockdown and many communities already there, the DNC was hell-bent on driving the final nail in the coffin of the youth movement, even though the Sanders campaign had suspended GOTV efforts, for obvious reasons, and even if Biden never really had a presence in any of the latest round of states.

We've had the bulk of that party turn their back on us because we refuse to pony up to a Republican Lite candidate like Biden who will continue the same old establishment path we've had for years on end. To list a few examples;

Biden has historically had a Pro-Life position. I refer to his 2007 stance on life at conception

He has historically supported the GOP budget

Supported the bail-out of Fannie and Freddie Mac

He opposed the Federal ordering of desegregation of busing as he believed this should have been left to the States

He has CONSISTENTLY supported Reagan and the GOP's militerization of police against the war on drugs

A supporter of both the Patriot ACT and the Iraq War

Has strongly favored trickle-down tax cuts by the GOP

It goes on and on.

I won't be fooled by his obvious attempts at pandering to progressives now with his sudden support of various policies and initiatives. Bernie's shilling for Biden following his loss won't be fooling myself and many other progressives as well. He's another establishment hack, and anybody who lables him far left are being fooled, badly. His win won't change anything for us. I've had friends criticize me continiously for my stance, but it's a matter of ideals and values. I don't compromise, and neither should ANY true progressive OR conservative.

I know he is not far left.

He is just corrupt like the Clintons. Money, Influence, and "legacy" are all they care about.

The Democrats SHOW disdain , but that is what it is.
A SHOW.
Been that way since the start in the 60s and 70s
The main reason how the Proglibs could overtake a once great party and turn it into trash .
(of which I have belonged to both)

No, he just got in bed with them for the power. Having an army of violent useful idiots in the streets is helpful too.

Erm....

You do realize that the majority of the examples you cited were supported by the Left and Progressives at the time?

I know... it is confusing to sort through the flip-flop stances of a politician who has spent almost 50 years in office.

Even more confusing is to try to take into account the Progressive party stances at a glance.

Because they change with the political tide of the time.

So as a self-professed Progressive, can you point out to me any indication that Biden as President will in any way lower the citizenry's taxes, shrink the size of government and allow we Americans more political freedoms?

Or is he just fine with you?

Despite the fact that you are going to have to vote for someone who pretty much symbolizes everything a Progressive hates (white old rich hetero Catholic male)... in the hope that his handlers will get your agenda across anyways.

Your right, he’s not “far left” he’s a corrupt corporate democrat that’s willing to give violent far left groups a pass if he thinks it will help quench his lust for power and other proclivities.

He’s proven he’s not above breaking the rules to enrich himself and others near him, while literally writing laws to pass harsher punishments for people who have done far less than himself.

He plays racism and sexism cards like every other democrat, to avoid facing any criticism of their ideas.

He might as well be far left, he’s willing to let those people do anything if he can profit from it.

Biden is a Progressive.

So technically an American Socialist.

Like the author of this thread is.

Biden is NOT "Progressive" enough for people like the OP author, however.

Nobody will ever be, of course...

Until they get an AoC type in office.

They dream and pine and cry and RRhheee for the American version of Hitler.

Only then will they be happy.

Oh wait....

I think you are mistaken. People are accusing the Democrat party of going far left. Joe will pander to whomever pays the best. Far left covers fascism, and make no mistake that the whole party represents the stifling and smearing of any and all opposing view points

Hold on a a bit there, There's nothing much to say that, 'progressives' is anything other than a buzzword, and it's kind of arrogant to say that, 'progressive' is considered some kind of magic...so you have to join the Fray, like it or not.

Nowithstanding that, I appreciate somebody like a family man can rationalise his priorities to his family, which is what most of us are about, that does no mean though that there is magic to be found, and certainly not by Trump, for instance.

First you have to have the power to make change.

Then you fight for those changes within the power.

Which power do I need to have a better chance of fighting for the changes I want?

Reality.

Idealism is a nice word — not much else.
