There's been some decidedly freaky aspects to global UFO reports over the years and one factor which does seem to keep on popping up is the stopping of (or interference with) clocks and watches during a UFO encounter.

Seems sometimes multiple timepieces are involved but it doesn't seem to matter about mains or separate battery power source and non electric watches have also been affected - bizarrely some UFO witnesses have also reported different watches refusing to work after their experience or clocks stopping after they touch them.

Like with animal reaction feature, if a person goes back and looks through some of the older UFO literature then some relevant nuggets in the case details do seem to stand out.

Am sure there'll be plenty more examples out there so if anyone's aware of any (or has opinions about what's going on) then please post away.

• Some very strange UFO accounts at the link below taken from newspaper clippings (primarily from the 1970s and 1980s) compiled by Loren E. Gross - full list well worth a read on a rainy day.

Some UFO Notes By Loren E. Gross

Articles:

Salesman Alan Cave claims he became a time traveler the day he spotted a strange orange cloud.

For as he drove under the mysterious object in the sky, Alan says his milometer, his watch and a digital pen all moved backwards.

Yesterday he told of his close encounter on the A46 between Bath and Stroud.

“It was exactly 11 o’clock when I glanced at my watch and it said eight o’clock.  My digital pen said nine.

“Both were right when I set out.

“Then the speedo started going back – it was weird.  It lost 300 miles, though a mechanic had since told me it’s impossible.”

Alan, 45, of Dorchester Road, Tauton, Somerset, doesn’t believe in flying saucers.

“But something very odd occurred in those few seconds – and I wouldn’t like it to happen again.”

* London, England. Daily Star. 3 November 1981.

And

It was a shaken John Struble who got the cement truck under way again after the object was gone, who noticed moments later that his watch apparently had been stopped too.  Mrs. Struble said the watch had kept perfect time prior to the sighting, and was five minutes slow afterwards — approximately the duration of the UFO appearance.

The watch was non-electric.

* Kalispell, Montana. Daily Inter Lake. 22 October 1975.

And

Springfield, Missouri - April, 1984.

"Several head of cattle graze on the property; there have been recent attempts at rustling.  The caretaker calls his wife on the citizens band radio in his truck.  She is at their home on the property.  A friend of hers is visiting.  The caretaker says he is going to check out this suspicious occurrence.

He drives toward the lights.  He comes to the end of a dirt road in front of a deep ravine, near the spot where he saw the lights.

That is all he remembers.

There is a 10 minute gap in the report.  No radio contact.  Nothing.  Except that, somehow, the caretaker finds himself on the other side of the normally impassable ravine.

He calls his wife for help.  “Where are you?” she asks.  “I don’t know,” he responds.

His truck won’t start, the lights won’t work, he feels disoriented.  When he finally returns to the house, his wife and her friend notice that his battery powered watch is running 12 minutes slow.  The next day, he will have to replace the alternator and the regulator in his truck.  Both have been burned out.

What is the caretaker’s opinion of what happened?  “He doesn’t have one,” Mrs. Becker says.  “He knows something unusual happened to him, but he’s not sure what.”

• Likewise some extremely interesting reading found in Keith Basterfield's full catalogue linked below (I thought so anyway) - some details also include timepiece tampering.

20 Aug 1979 Hatfield Tas 2128hrs
A thirty one year old ex-police woman was driving towards Devonport in a 1971 VW station wagon when a green light appeared behind the vehicle, lighting the interior and casting a green glow through the car. However, the surrounding countryside did not seem to be lit up. Although she pressed down on the accelerator the car did not respond by speeding up. It actually decreased speed to forty eight km/h. She changed from fourth to third gear, then to second but to no avail. The light remained the same height and distance from the car, keeping up with the vehicle for some eight kilometres. Without warning, the light switched off and the vehicle returned to normal. Later she found there had been an abnormally high useage of petrol for the trip. Other effects were a loss of fuel, apparent loss of brakes, loss of power and a clock stopped. (TUFOIC.)

And

Nov 1974 The Sideling Tas Ca. 2300hrs

On his way home to Scottsdale a man saw a soundless object about the size of an enormous building about half a kilometre away to his left, in the north. His car engine and radio cut out and the figures on his watch lit up really brightly. The object travelled along and was last seen going straight upwards. Duration three to four minutes. The watch broke down shortly after the event. The left hand mudguard of the car changed colour from red to orange and stayed that colour. (TUFOIC.)

• Nicap's Report on EM effects also brings up a case from Santa Fe, New Mexico during the early November, 1957 flap where a car clock and wristwatch stopped working as a UFO passed over a motor vehicle.

In Norway, October, 1956 a UFO also flew in front of motor vehicle and hovered over the road - according to jeweller the wristwatch of the witness was 'magnetized':

• August 27th, 1979, Stephen, Minnesota - Police Officer Val Johnson witnesses a UFO descend on his car causing him lose consciousness- patrol car clock and officer's wristwatch also both lost 14 minutes.

Vid sourced by Easynow:

There was a crack in the windshield on the driver's side, that ran from top to bottom, with four apparent impacts. The electric clock was running 14 minutes slow, as was Johnson's wristwatch.

• In a case similar to the Socorro incident one year earlier, lavender farmer Maurice Masse experiences a daylight, close range sighting of a small, egg shaped UFO emitting a strange hissing sound - two jumpsuit wearing, big headed occupants also spotted.

The farmer was 'paralysed' by a device held by one of the occupants before they both entered UFO and flew away - farmer also reported to have trouble with different watches refusing to work after the sighting and was 'unable to wear them anymore'.

• At White Acres farm in Rosedale, Australia another farmer witnesses a UFO (domed disc shaped) with orange and blue lights about ten feet above the ground - the object then briefly hovered over a water tank and landed 50 feet away. Whistling sound, physical trace evidence, missing water and wristwatch malfunction reported.

September 30th, 1980

The witness experienced an unusual recurring headache for 7 to 8 days. Vomiting and diarrhoea also persisted for the same period of time. For 3 days after the incident, the witness's watch refused to work when he tried to wear it. Before and after this period it worked without any problems.

• Official Judicial Court case and Police UFO casefile for this one involving close range UFO (and occupant) sighting resulting in another stopped wristwatch - August 31st , 1968, Mendoza, Argentina:

Argentina: The Night a UFO Shook Mendoza Awake

Over 50 years ago, the courts of the city of Mendoza (Argentina) engaged in the investigation of a strange claim that became local and national news: the Villegas and Peccinetti Case - two employees of the Mendoza Casino who claimed having been intercepted by a UFO and five aliens in the city, near the Liceo Militar.

Judge Jorge Marzari Céspedes was famous for the fact that all unusual events wound up before his bench. "All that you need is to send a flying saucer to jail!" some colleagues had told him, half-jokingly. However, one day, that remark practically came true, and it became a police docket and later a judicial file..

"We were about to check whether the car battery was operating correctly when five completely bald individuals, with heads larger than usual approached us. They wore a kind of coverall, stood 1.40 meters tall, and had very pale skin." -- Statements by Villegas and Peccinetti in the court document.

Upon seeing themselves surrounded by these humanoid figures, the Casino cashiers thought to escape through an empty field, but a surprise awaited them.

"There was a lenticular object, 5 meters in diameter, hanging in the air. A powerful beam of light was projected from a lower opening, aimed at the ground. It was some 30 meters from us and floated a little over 1 meter from the ground."

As part of the investigation, Sheriff Miguel Montoza kept Peccinetti's wristwatch: a Precision with 17 antimagnetic rubies which had stopped cold at 3:42 on 31 August, the exact time of the reported "alien contact".

▪Don't know much more but on January 14th, 2002 apparently a train encountered three strange flying objects near Outpost 41 in Kentucky.

Reports of damage to (and EM effects on) the train and upon arriving at the railroad yard the train crew were met by strange men 'none of them had ever seen before' - they were taken to an office, interrogated for hours and ordered never to speak of the incident.

All trace of train and strange men gone the next day and during the encounter the wristwatch of one of the crew members stopped at 2:47AM and 'still reads the same to this day'.

THE PAINTSVILLE UFO/TRAIN CRASH - JANUARY 14, 2002 - PAINTSVILLE, KY

In 2002, a train was hauling coal and freight through Paintsville, Ky., on its way to Shelbiana. At exactly 2:47 a.m., strange hovering lights appeared on the tracks ahead of them and the train’s electronics went haywire. Above the nearby river, at least three other hovering crafts seemed to be scanning the water with searchlights. These UFOs were described as metallic with no windows or visible openings. The train’s diesel engines lost power and, unable to stop quickly enough, it struck the UFO closest to the tracks..

All of my clocks are off and no matter what I do, they change again, stop, start, minutes, hours. Just last week I get a call from my s/v asking if I was ok; I was getting ready for work. Well apparently I lost an hour, don’t know how, I follow the same routine everyday, and I thought I was running early.

My son and g/f also claim that they could not find me for an hour, while I have no recollection of leaving.

The other night at work, the door at work wouldn’t let us out. It’s an automatic door and wasn’t locked, but refused to open even when pulling on it.

Lost brakes before too.

My clocks haven’t been synchronized in over 15 years. Also, when I lived in AZ, the clock at work stopped at 3:00 everyday for months. The poor maintenance man was baffled.

I wonder how many other people go through this!

If these vehicles are using anti-grav to move through space, it makes sense that those in their field would be affected, since gravity, space, and time are all connected.

For ex. a craft could generate a gravity/time field around an object, essentially 'freezing' time around it. This could be why, from the observers POV, birds stop chirping and watches stop.

Can't decide whether these types of effects are simply a by product of some physical interaction or deliberate - and if the latter what is the message we take away from it.

I’ll take a stab at this.....

Clocks old and new have either jewels or quartz crystals. Perhaps UFO’s somehow influences these minerals to cause clock, watches, etc to act the way they do ...freezes etc.. in some manner?

History of earliest jeweled timepiece

Although synthetics jewels are used most today (wrist watches) however, expensive watches throughout the decades still use authentic jewels.. like Rolex etc.

Combine this with other common UFO phenomena such as "missing time" and it starts to become quite clear that these crafts are messing with space-time in some way. The hints all point to the same conclusion but hardly anyone wants to entertain the idea we could be dealing with time travelers.

Thanks for the posts and whatever's going on does sound extremely strange - also found it interesting that many folks report the Oz factor during their experience which is described as a sense of dislocation and timelessness accompanied by an unnatural silence.

Researcher Tim Swartz reports yet another wristwatch example below from Ohio in June, 2001 - he also speculates about spatial changes, altered states of consciousness, unusual silences and potential time distortions.

As soon as the lights flew away,” Deborah said, “the car started running again all by itself. The lights and radio were on just as they were before everything happened.”

According to their watches, the strange encounter had lasted more than 20 minutes. However, when they arrived home, Deborah’s husband seemed unconcerned about what they thought was a late arrival. That’s when they discovered that instead of being after 9:00 p.m., as their wristwatches indicated, it was only 8:35 p.m.

“It was as if the entire time we spent looking at those lights had never happened,” Angie said. “But it did happen, our watches both showed we had been stuck out there for over 20 minutes, but somehow we gained that time back with a few minutes to spare. Normally we should have been home at around ten to nine, but somehow, despite what had happened, we got there early.”

Good question mate and maybe it is some form of attention seeking - thick fog or mists also seem to be involved in some of the more freaky cases and there are certain analogues found within Faerie lore - really does make a person wonder.

Professor Swords also writes about the subject below and quotes from the files of the Tasmanian UFO Investigation Committee with further info on the 1979 Murchison Highway case:

Suddenly the light was just gone, and the car returned to normal function. Her watch now said 9:29pm despite much more time having elapsed --- it must have stopped during this entire experience, and checking her dashboard clock, it had stopped too. As she was finally getting home, she noticed that her fuel tank was now empty, but her normal trip should have left it half full.

Messing around with engine function, timepieces, gasoline --- nothing is sacred to these space cowboys. But seriously... what constellation of projected force technologies can account for the variety in these cases?

Also this one from the same area four years later.

Stanley River Road, TAS 1983.

The witness was driving to his home along the western Tasmanian highway [somewhat south of the previous story] when his car was lit up by a bright circle of blue-white lights overhead. The witness decided to stop his car to look, but found that he could not influence the car's motion nor speed in any way. Brakes did not work, and even removing the keys from the ignition had no effect. The car just sped on, and he doesn't remember whether he was doing the steering or not..

When the "driver" finally reached his turn-off, the object immediately sped away, being seen doing so by his wife. With the object gone, the car just stopped. He put the keys back in, and it started right up.He calculated his trip time. His watch indicated that the trip had taken 16 minutes. He should have taken 6 or 7 of those to get to the point where his car was illuminated and he lost control [8 kilometers]. But that meant that the final 25 winding hilly kilometers had been traversed in only 9 or 10 minutes, a physical impossibility in his vehicle. Did his watch stop during the experience and just start back up later? Even if so, why? How does one do that?

Time is a weird subject. It does not per say exist in the physical dimension, its just a part of that physical dimension. Its a measurement we use to measure change and entropy. I mean our time is based on the seasons and the sun and our planet going around the sun.

From what I heard on the net and whatever other species ie aliens measure time and age, by biological processes. So make of it what you will. But? Which makes sense for space fairing species. After all, when your in space and there are no seasons and no sun to go around for millions of years. And it just may take thousands of years to get from point A to point B.

What do you do? No sun around, no planets for millions of lightyears. And well, how do you keep track of time when it becomes pointless to keep track of going around in circles around a sun and base things around the seasons?

All of that becomes meaningless to say that your 30 years old because 30, or 365 days have passed or 10950 days have passed. So basically a year for them is when every single cell in there body replicates itself once. Which would be basically about 7 years for humans. So then one year for them would be 7 years for us.

Or just depends on what your measuring and comparing it against.

So if you meet an alien and he or she or it tells you there 1000 years old, then that would mean there 7000 years old by your standards etc etc. Its a compare and contrast thing based on physicality and physiology vs based on seasonal planetary movement.

As for the physical properties of gear watches stooping or slowing. Who know, who cares. Of all the things which could be affected, having a watch stop or not work right is the least of it. Its just a piece of machinery after all, gears and Tinkertoy, or electrical gadgetry.

Could just be that the electrical magnetic field of there space toilet outshoot dispensary as they take a space doodo and flush is effecting the electromagnetic circuitry in digital watches and corroding the atomic and elemental makeup of the copper and metal which the gear watches are made off.

Not really effecting time per say. Its effecting matter, and our interpretations and the tools we use to keep track of things. ie watches. Or any number of things. Including messing with how our brain synapses fire in out heads, and the brain could be compensating, and trying to fill in all the holes to play catch up. Its how the mind and brain works, if you have a ship that can zip into nowhere at the speed of light, and well your brain synapses electrical signals between them at 0.5 milliseconds. For one signal to fire and hit another synapse nerve that is.

And to make a coherent thought on something that takes half a second would take minutes, even if you knew or were aware of what was happening. So...Time dilation. And the brain is compensating for the time missed to keep you sane in going along on your merry journey here on planet earth.

Also could be the very field of the craft is messing with the electronic signaling not only of watches but in the brain and firing off of synapses just mucking things up making you punch drunk to sort of say.

Or. Ah who cares, could be any number of hundreds to thousands of things.

Aint that some #.

Generally when a train hits something here on earth its the thing that gets hit which gets crunched up and squashed, not the other way around. Who knows what they hit to tear it up like that. And its strange that the whole circus of people and tents and people making inquiries went completely missing on there way back some 8 hours through that area.

If it can be believed, it is a strange story. Much stranger then the missing time and faulty watches stories you generally hear.

I think this is something that needs to be looked at. The stopping of clocks might mean these U.F.O.'s might be creating some sort of gravity field that stops our clocks from moving forward.

My hypothesis is that these people who operate these ships - their technology is so advanced that actually figured out a way to artificially warp space-time, the way a black hole does naturally.

And, if that's true it could mean that they could be coming here not only from other planets but from other star systems, other galaxies, other dimensions that coexist with ours, parallel universes, even our own future or our own past.

We have the occupants of these craft are continually telling people - they ask them questions like what time is it, what is time, what is your time, what is age, what is a year and they say 'You are caught in time and we're not - our time is different from yours'.

Time is distorted in the vicinity of these craft and inside these craft - a lot of time people's watches will stop, we have people who say that their voices are distorted when they're near these craft like when they breathe helium or something. So we have all sorts of indications that these things are in some kind of a field that warps space and time.

November 6th, 1957 - Santa Fe, Texas.

Residents J. Martinez and A. Galegoz were driving down the highway and witness an 'egg shaped object with red, green and yellow lights' approaching them at a very low altitude.

The unknown object came directly over their car and illuminated the entire area with 'a great glow' - a loud humming noise was also reported.

Car engine dies and both their wristwatches stop working.

See 45:40

In the first week of November 1957, a series of dramatic and unusual UFO events occurred which caused great concern at the highest levels of government and changed the way many people viewed the UFO phenomenon. Sputnik 1 had been launched one month earlier, and the launch of Sputnik 2 was imminent. Then, in the first week of November 1957, a dramatic wave of UFO encounters struck the states of Texas and New Mexico.

The apparent primary target was a small town called Levelland. What happened in Levelland, Texas was unprecedented and had never occurred before, and has yet to be repeated. Dozens of people in Levelland and the surrounding areas reported UFOs disabling their vehicles, causing the electrical system to fail and the car engines to cease functioning.

In case after case, UFOs buzzed cars at low level, and often landed on the road, blocking their way forward. UFO car-stalling cases were well-known among UFO researchers, but this brazen and audacious level of activity had never been reported before. While the small town of Levelland, Texas and the surrounding area first appeared to be the target, the truth was much different. In fact, similar and often identical encounters occurred across the United States and the world, involving not only car-stalling cases, but many bizarre electromagnetic effects on a wide variety of machines.

I had touched on this topic here a while back. I had deduced they manipulate the fabric of space which affects physical time which in turn would affect the phenomenon of gravity. Ufos are more so time machines with beneficial quirks... at least the nuts and bolts craft. So for the most part temporal affects would be difficult to avoid like trying to stop an engine from releasing heat.
