So VP Pence directly asked if Harris/Biden would engage in 'packing' the Supreme Court if elected.

She refused to answer (multiple times)...and, instead, launched into her own rewrite of history concerning old 'Honest' Abe Lincoln and how he left the vacancy for Chief Justice OPEN...until AFTER the election:

Harris claimed at the VP debate that Abraham Lincoln refused to nominate a candidate for Chief Justice in October 1864 because “Honest Abe said, it’s not the right thing to do” and wanted the people to vote first.

Nothing could be further from the truth...but, Harris won't let something as inconvenient as the truth stand in her way of dodging an uncomfortable question. Cleary, her response was prepared in advance.

As ACTUAL, REAL history states:

Lincoln, of course, said no such thing. He sent no nominee to the Senate in October 1864 because the Senate was out of session until December.
He sent a nominee the day after the session began, and Salmon P. Chase was confirmed the same day. And Lincoln wanted to dangle the nomination before Chase and several other potential candidates because he wanted them to campaign for him. Lincoln’s priority was winning the election, which was necessary to win the war — and he filled the vacancy at the first possible instant.

Kamala Harris is simply inventing history.

www.nationalreview.com...

"Harris is simply inventing history."

THAT, my friends, is also known as lying.

Expect lots and lots of ACTUAL history to be invented and rewritten...if Harris/Biden ever actually manage to lie their way into the WH.

Here statement didn't come out of trump's mouth so it doesn't matter. It's truth until a republican says it.

Thanks for the info. So pretty much... her whole platform was total BS.

Couldn't Lincoln have appointed a "recess appointment" to SCOTUS? Eisenhower did it in 1956.

you missed the latter part of the post: Lincoln held it over his head so he'd campaign for Lincoln.

Now, im not saying this is accurate or not. Just pointing out what the OP said as it relates to your question.

The Harris/Biden campaign would rather we be talking about her pathetic lying rather than them subverting the Constitution, destroying the country by packing the Supreme Court.

Right.
Krumpalla had her little 'Honest Abe' tale prepared as a tool to avoid answering an anticipated question about packing the SC.

Why would she lie about Sal Tessio?

Easy to see why she got less than 2% of the vote and had to drop out of the Presidential race.

Results are in though. Americans would rather have Mike Pence as their President, than Kamala Harris.

Right. I thought Trump should have done that too, putting the Supreme Court nominee on the ballot with him, as an enticement for the masses to vote for him.

Since his plan was to have his SCOTUS nominees to campaign for him, as a politician, don't you think that's probably exactly what Lincoln told the mass electoral masses, that he was was putting the choice to the people, while he himself campaigned?

But, he could have used a "recess appointment" put his nominee on the Supreme Court and he didn't.

Huh......

“On day one, Joe Biden is going to raise your taxes,” Pence said. This is false: Biden has proposed tax increases only on households making more than $400,000 a year.

Pence said he and Trump had a plan to “protect pre-existing conditions for every American.” The administration has repeatedly attempted to take health insurance away from Americans, and the number of uninsured people has risen during Trump’s presidency.

Pence claimed that Trump had “suspended all travel from China.” He did not. Although Trump claimed to have done so, hundreds of thousands of people traveled from China to the U.S. after the coronavirus appeared.

Pence said the Trump administration would “continue to listen to the science” on climate change. The administration has defied or ignored the views of scientists on climate change including attempting to dismantle the EPA.

Pence said Biden would “ban fracking.” Biden has not.

Pence said Trump he revered members of the military. In 2015, Trump publicly mocked John McCain because he had been a prisoner during the Vietnam War. More recently, Trump has described Americans soldiers killed in war as “losers” and “suckers".

Pence said voting by mail created “a massive opportunity for voter fraud.” This contradicts all of the available evidence and history about mail voting.

They both lied, but at least they were both given the opportunity to lie. Always 2 sides to the story, you left out half.

Kamala wiped the floor with Mike Pence. I’m just wondering how she kept from falling over laughing once that fly landed on his head

Damn liberal fly.

Biden will end Trumps tax cuts which will raise taxes on everyone and he will increase FURTHER the taxes on anyone making over 400,000.

I'll agree Kumella spent plenty of time on the floor...but, last night, she forgot to bring her knee pads.

Left 'em with Willie.

Lincoln did not make a nomination until after he won re-election. That is the stark truth.

You obviously weren't watching the debate. Harris did a lousy job by not answering questions. The pulse across the country today is she is arrogant, untrustworthy and evasive. Typical lawyer. Also why she didn't get the nod in the primary, she's a horrible person and horrible candidate. To say she "wiped the floor" with Pence is simply denying the truth. Again.

If we are being honest, there isn't a comparison. The times Lincoln lived in were nothing at all like the times Trump lives in.

Napoleon once said that to know a man, you have to know the environment when they were 20.

For one thing...win or lose in 1864...Lincoln's first term wouldn't have ended until MARCH of 1865...rather than JANUARY 20.

Politically, there is no difference. Technologically, there is a big difference.

Lincoln still had to campaign. While campaigning, he had to explain why he didn't nominate or appoint a SCOTUS justice, when he could have, and it was his duty the same as Trump claims that now it's his duty.

Lincoln probably was hanging the SCOTUS nomination over people's head to get them to campaign for him. Trump has been known to do the same. But, Lincoln probably also told the little people that he was leaving the decision to "The People".
