So I wonder what people feel should be the right thing to do with some basic facts up front...

1. Out of 45 Presidents 22 filled or try to fill 29 positions during an election year to include Obama. Yes some had two...
2. It takes two parts of the fed Government to agree on a fill...the President to select and the Senate to vote on it.
3. 90% of the time when the President and the Senate were the same party the selection was approved, 90% of the time when the President and Senate were not the same the selection was not approved.
4. When the country votes in a President and the Senate matches the same party it is a mandate of the country, sorry to say for those who feel it is not.
5. RBG did not own the seat... Even her best friend Scalia said as much...NONE of them own the seat...
6. Whether the Democrats are in power or the Republicans are in power it is their right to fill the seat. It is just common sense here...To wait to see what happens for the Democrats on a hope and prayer that either they take the Presidency or Senate is a fool's errand for the Democrats to try and force the issue...
7. Obama and Biden both said numerous times it is the right of the President to pick their choice EVEN during an election year, and that has happen many times already... Sucks they didn't have control of the Senate too... The people voted in the end... That is how things are done. You have the power by the people's vote, and so you are controlled by the vote. Nothing new here...sorry
8. RBG should have retired back during Obama, but she was 95% sure Hillary was going to win...Then it was an oh sh!t moment as she has been on life support for the last 3+ years trying to outlive Trump... The woman was diagnose with pancreatic cancer 11 years ago and that is one of those you don't survive from. Some die within months of being diagnose...it is just that bad, but she kept going, so maybe she should have retired in 2015.
9. So who is at fault here to insure a far left liberal fills her spot...

Much good information!

This might be eye-opening for many who will say Biden never said that:

Newsweek Article from 2016 - Biden says it’s a President’s duty to fill SC seat even in election year

It was a big deal for both him and Obama and they were 100% right! The problem is as I said there are two parts to all this and Obama only had one part...and why...you ask... ITS BECASE THE PEOPLE VOTED and so he did not have the majority of the senate.

The biggest mandate from the voters is when the Senate maintained the Conservative majority in 2018. THAT WAS HUGE!!! Not only did the Republicans maintain the Senate they gained a few seats.

Do we just erase all that now... I think not..

The only issue I have with McConnell was his rationale in 2016. He should have just said they were done working with Obama. Because they made the excuse of “let the people decide”, it doesn’t look great on McConnell.

If I were a shadow Governor, I'd say don't fill the seat.

Remember how close Bush and Gore were in Florida?
Do that again but take away a Supreme Court judge.

It would provide a huge divide and easier conquest.

Has every other seat left open by a dying or retiring justice been filled?

Yes so why wouldn’t this one.

Suck it up liberals

Yeah, letting the people decide anything is a bad look.

Democracy rhymes with Democrat and we don't want none of that.

The majority of Americans voted President Trump and a GOP senate into office in 2016 with the understanding that they would put a Supreme Court Justice in place should something like this happen.

Not just to serve during the easy times, to do the will of the people in the tough times.

They need to fulfill the wishes of the majority that installed them in 2016.

Let the people who won in 2016 decide.

If not, why even have term limits? Why even have a senate? Why even have rules?

Their narrative back then wasn't great, but still followed 150 years of practice. I agree he should have just been blunt and said that they were not going to work with Obama for any reason due to the differences in who was the majority in the Senate.

We also know that back then Obama actually said that he would select someone very credible, but when asked if that means someone who is a liberal moderate Obama laughed and said... "I didn't say that too"...

Of course the President can nominate a SC Justice ... and should ...

... and McConnell, Graham, Grassley et. al., if they had any respect for integrity and honesty, would refuse to bring the nomination to the floor, BY THEIR OWN WORDS in 2016. Graham SPECIFICALLY stated that we should hold him to his words EVEN if a Republcian President was in power.

Of course, we all know that no politician has any respect for anything but power, so I am not surprised. Further, anyone who supports this is making a public declaration that you do not believe in integrity or the value of someone's word.

Remember though, elections have consquences, and you're all on the record stating that whoever wins the elections has the power can do anything they want within the bounds of the Constitution (or even beyond it, if they can).

I hope you are reminded of that when your enemies have power, and you are crying about precedent, the "will of the people" and "fair play."

LOL.

Fill it. Don't delay, don't wait, just fill it.

Democrats need to wait just in case they're able to cheat their way in, that way they can stack with liberals that will go directly against the Constitution and limit things like the 1st and 2nd Amendment if it doesn't conform to liberal beliefs, and end things like the Electoral College.

The vote of the people of 2016 and 2018 didn't stop once 2020 started...That is ridiculous to even think it. The Mandate was set in 2018 when the Republicans kept control of the Senate. That spoke volumes as to how the people wanted any SC openings to be filled. I'm very sure that the voters in 2018 didn't say...Well if we are close to Nov 2020 then we should just roll the dice once again. Remember that it is only 2 years between senate elections, so is the left suggesting that they should only have this mandate power for one year?

Once again. When the President and Senate are the same then that is a mandate of the voters.

Rush Limbaugh type of conservative should be voted in yesterday and a big ole middle finger should be given at the swearing in.

The dems are playing for keeps and if conservatives aren’t ready willing and able to trade punch for punch they will go down. They have a kill shot. Take it.

If the Senate proceeds: Sotomayor, Kaygen and Breyer should protest by resigning....That will show Trump.

Their goal on a hope and prayer is to take at least the Presidency or the Senate to basically force a none pick for 4 years if Trump wins or to reroll in two years if they win the Presidency and not the Senate. It is 100% political...
