What are your thoughts on this.
Many Mcdonald's are upscale here overseas and l wonder what is stopping them from serving alcoholic beverages.

I don't know how it is there but here in America we have so many liquor licenses allowed.

McDonalds doesn't really fit the bill here...I mean bars are everywhere...closed though they may be.

Let's be honest: McDonald's shouldn't even be allowed to serve food.

Why are they still closed.
Here our bars are all open.
You guys are really getting brainwashed by your dictatorship mayor's.
Really feel sorry for you folks .
Don't you understand it's illegal what is happening.

I know in France they sell beer to their customers.

Seldom I visit a McDonalds but when I do, I am in the Cafe area most of the visits. They sell cake, sweets and the coffee is okay. It's good for short visits when I am on the road as they also have cacao / chocolate milk or milkshakes for my little one.

I don't know if you have McDonalds Cafe areas though, but the last thing I need is drunken people there.

Here is how they look like, for those that have no idea what I am talking about:

Yes. I believe McDonalds should be able to serve alcohol in their place of business.

Not all closed, but half capacity and such due to Covid.

You call me brainwashed. But, it's not hard to wear a mask and we do have 200k plus dead.

It isn't illegal for businesses to dictate their own terms of service.

No expert, but each store is a framchise, owned by an individual, so the process of obtaining a liquor licence wld have to subject to the fees and requirements, individually.

When I was very young, some did sell beer.

It's possible that it is corporate policy now that they do not.

Last I checked there's a few McDonald's that sell beer in Spain, maybe Portugal.

Even if you have a franchise, you are obliged to certain rules and if those rules state that you cannot sell alcohol or put up a, for example, hot-dog stand inside a McDonalds franchise building, you can not, if you do you might loose the license.

I have been on the lookout for taking a franchise but I decided to build up my own, personal business as it means more freedom. I could not even sell my own camshafts inside my own building, if I had taken a franchise with the most popular car parts franchise lenders.

The result is, that I do have a smaller margin on things like motor oils, storage space, but I can do what I want. It's risk but so far the customer base values the personal knowledge. I am not a drone behind some counter, I stand behind what I do and with my knowledge. That's what customers value.

The McDonalds customer base is youth and family, they won't have big margins on beer. It would make zero sense for me to put up a shelf with these "4.2L V8 powered" chrome letter stickers that only fools will glue on their VW 1.2L Polo with 75hp. It would undermine the message of a custom parts specialist and a huge red flag for potential customers.

SO Yeah I want a number 4 large with a jack and coke to go and a small order of nuggets for my kid. lol

If they want to sell booze they should be allowed to imo. If they don't find the need or want to do that then don't.

You should have gone in any random bar and get one of the countless local beers.

I recommend to try the Tegernsee beer, it's spicy but round or soft in the throat. Very "süffig" (goes down good and tastes so good you want more). But I don't think you will find it in America since even I have to order it or drive there to get a 24ish box of them.

It's one of the best in my opinion, but you should try all of the 6000+ sorts. Your liver might not like that though.

I lived there for 5 years and had plenty.

Eichbaum was the local favorite in Mannheim. We generally tried numerous local beers when we were there.
