Need help getting my print screen to work. It stopped working on my old desktop computer. I recently changed to a new tower, but it still won't work. Is it my keyboard, or is there a setting I need to check?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate, if that needs to be known.

It is probably your keyboard

I had issues before with some keys sticking/not working.

$90 for a new keyboard and you are good to go, probably...

Before buying the new keyboard, could try to dismantle the old one first, and clean components with rubbing alcohol and re-assemble and re-try (not water or sanitizer though).

Could also try the redneck approach with Brakleen. Careful with that on some plastics/rubber/electronics.

Good luck

Use the Snipping Tool instead, it's a lot better.

This is a fairly new keyboard. It doesn't feel like the keys are sticking at all. But thanks for the advice.

Is that under the accessories? Never used it before. How does it work?

ETA: Just tried it and it works. Thanks so much. It's just an aggravation having to go through all the links to get to it, but it will do in a rush.

Just open the start menu and type "snip", it'll pop up. Basically it locks your screen and lets you click and drag an area to screen shot.
Excellent tool.

Or add it to your taskbar, you don't have to go through a lot to use it.

How do I do that? I'm not computer savvy at all.
Can you tell?

ETA: Google is my friend. LOL

Well, if everything else on your PC is new and the problem travelled from your old PC to your new PC, it almost certainly is the old reused keyboard/keyboard cable.

Glad you found an alternate way to screen print, but I still suggest your do something about that old keyboard.

Best.

That's the thing, if you want to make a capture in the immediate, printscreen is the man.
On ATS for instance, stuff can disappear very quickly, and has.

Seems the Snip tool is about to be replaced with a new more functional version.

Personally I prefer Greenshot as it has a load of editing tools built in that beat Snip hands down.
