seriously, i mean, i really enjoyed learning how the constitution was only written for rich white men, and how evil America is, and how the workers of the world need to unite and stamp out the evils of capitalism.

Are you familiar at all with the curriculum, especially history, taught in schools today? When I went to a private grade school and public high school I was taught all about how bad America is, even when they do great things... its all about the framing you know, and that was 20 years ago. i cant imagine its gotten any more pro-THE COUNTRY YOU F-ING LIVE IN. as evident by the latest set of highschool graduates currently trying to overthrow the evil american empire and create a communist utopia.

The irony of their actions are entirely lost on them because they lack the objective historical context required.

Learning about the Constitution isn't patriotic, that's basic civics, I learned about that in 6th grade.

me too... i learned all about how the founders were slave holding racists and the constitutions was only written for rich white land owners, all about the destructive nature of capitalism, and the fairness of socialism too.

Today we have more good news related to wiping out marxism and far-left/woke propaganda,

AKA objective reality.

“Patriotic Education” Seriously. This is nothing but state sponsored propaganda. And you all are cheering on government brainwashing, simply because it favors the political party you’ve been tricked into believing is working in your best interest.

I know, right? How dare the current administration push this thing about educating our kids about FREEDOM and LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness, and how all of that got started.

It's just terrible!

I like the idea of the EO, but it is always good to be leary. It all comes down to what kind of changes are made. There is always a possibility that this can be abused which means the public should be vigilent, but open minded.

I'm waiting for the libtards to cancel Thanksgiving. They will describe it as a celebration of the slaughter of indigenous peoples by white supremacists.

They did do the same thing. So have many other governments and parties before and since then.

You're focusing on the big issues tied with the Nazi's. And not looking at the building blocks to their path to fascism.
I'm not refuting that there's revisionists in the US, it happens. Evangelicals have been trying to do it for decades now. BLM were trying to do it as well.

But why does it need a sweeping reform from executive branches? How far will it go?

Fair enough. The reason I don't take issue with it is because the revisionist history has led our Millennial and Gen Z generations on lies. I'm confident that this won't go nearly as far as the Nazi's did because you have to have a hateful soul to hate another race so bad that you'll round them up and kill them. Our party stood with blacks in the 60's and they stood with us. We offered independence but that rug was swept from the bottom of us when Johnson came in and offered government dependence. Said it would keep the black community voting for democrats for 200 years. Love him, hate him, like him, or dislike him, Trump is making moves necessary to getting this country back to independence and letting people make their own decision. A more American education like we had until the 80's would be so much more beneficial to this country, that's also when our education rank was #2, just below the Asians. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why any American in this country wouldn't want an education system that brings us back up to the top.

Your opinion may differ on that since you're in Canada, but from my angle, it would only help. But it's absolutely 100% not control, it's the total opposite.

He's not promoting 'Patriotic Education'. He wants to eliminate any education that addresses race disparity or promotes racial tolerance.

Racial disparity? Where? I see class disparity... there's a difference between class and race.

Racial intolerance? Like the 1619 Project? Like preaching "white privilege"?

Dude, you done gone and drowned yore brain in the Kool-Aide. There is no such thing as "white privilege" and the 1619 Project is a bunch of malarky. It's these exact things that you want to indoctrinate our youth with which have caused this Executive Order to be needed. Schools are not for teaching political viewpoints; schools are for teaching history (things that actually happened), math, science (using the Scientific Method, not using political agendas), reading, writing, and civics. If you want your kids to be taught what and how to think, teach them at home. If you want my kids to be taught what and how to think, PAWS OFF!

That's correct. It was abused, in my opinion, when they started revising it. I believe growing leery of education is what finally got us back to the point of bringing a true education system back. Ever since NCLB was signed into law by Bush II, the education system started to crumble. It was easier to dumb things down to get kids a passing grade to continue to receive funding, which led to teachers still not teaching their students well enough and giving passing grades instead of failing and losing the funding. Over the course of this time, history got whitewashed to make people feel different about it and American education lost its way completely.

We'll see how this turns out in practice, but I agree with the basic idea behind it. Conservatives have ceded the schools and universities to leftist propaganda for far too long. Something needs to be done to counteract the leftist brainwashing that is rampant in the education system before the country is completely lost to it.

I'm completely fine with this. The left had no problem when Obama was creating and funding the Obama Youth and the neo-Lugenpresse.

Children should recite the pledge of allegiance every morning and if some anti-Americans want to kneel they should be punished.

Elections have consequences snowflakes.

The only way to get around that part is to make political bias a big no-no. There's no reason a teacher can't teach a class and teach the truth and let the students decide their own conclusions. A degree in education is one of the easiest degrees to obtain, and in places like NY, they've removed the Literacy portion of the tests that are required to become a teacher at the schools there, because so many Hispanic and black applicants were failing, far outweighing the white applicants, so it was considered racist.

Source

Citing the fact that an outsized percentage of black and Hispanic candidates were failing the test, members of the New York state Board of Regents plans to adopt a task force's recommendation to eliminate the literacy exam, known as the Academic Literacy Skills Test, given to prospective teachers.

The education system has been in disrepair far longer than Bush 1 or 2. The entire system needs an overhaul. Modernized facilities with room to grow, higher standards for teachers, higher pay for those teachers, smaller classrooms for individual instruction. A change in school year scheduling. Specialized schools for above-average students that will not hold them back. Those are just a few things that need to change not even touching on the curriculum. These are long term investments that will pay dividends in the future.

Paying teachers more is not the solution especially if they already suck at it. It's the curriculum and of course the Marxist courses.

Did you skip over what I wrote just before higher pay for teachers? I mean, if not then what do you think I meant by stating there needs to be higher standards for teachers?

Also, while I do not believe higher pay would fix the more radical beliefs some teachers hold I do think it would alleviate it. A lot of teachers are paying out of pocket for supplies for their students. That alone is going to disenfranchise the very people we entrust to teach young minds about the capitalist system.

Hopefully this special education he's calling for helps promote some critical thinking about our history. You can love your country but not love everything it's done. I can be a patriot and still constantly question my government, which, in my opinion, is the most patriotic thing you can do.

Now that I can get behind.

Sadly, most of the posters in this thread who are ardent Trump supporters can't.

To them anyone who doesn't think like them is the enemy, and they will tell you that their enemies think the same about them. The system is so polarised that it runs the danger of promoting fanaticism.

Systematic 'patriotic' education without proper balance is indoctrination where people become taught they are simply superior because of their birthplace, in which case it may as well be the Hitler Youth, Communist Education camps, Apartheid South Africa, Communist China, Pol Pots Cambodia, Kim Il Sungs North Korea or even akin to the fictional Gilead.

Trump does not promote checks and balances in his day to day workings. In fact he has a systematic record of removing them either out of spite because the Democrats adopt them/brought them in, or simply out of his own personal beliefs.

That is a slippery slope, and needs to be addressed, because there are always two sides to every story.

I bet you'd be surprised what most Trump supporters believe.

I agree with you and AugustusMasonicus 110% on this.

You do realize a large majority of us were former Democrat voters?

See us Gen Z and Millennials have the internet at our fingertips, at all times.

You can't blame the current state of education as some sort of subversive system, that's the vibe I am getting from you. Perhaps for all those years it was rather 'white washed' history being taught, I've had this conversation many times and love to use the Rosa parks example. Her story was completely twisted from the truth.
Also, the GOP dug their own grave when they implemented racist vote theft tactics against the black vote for southern white voters. You can't walk away from that, and it's why so many black voters in the US have a hard time deciding who to go with.

American education may need reform, but it needs to grow with the amount of information people have access too, it's that simple. Here in Canada we had Native residential schools up until the 1990s. What's saying American education wasn't pulling the same thing? I think organizations abusing critical theory to revise certain aspects of history is wrong, but it's a fine line, keep it incheck, don't outright ban it. That's how dialectics work.
