they were on the football field. And the Adults have taught them, the field is where the new protesting takes place. Hate the game, not the player.

Hey, if you wanna turn pro and get your activism on that's a private business and they make the rules. It's not the same at public school.

As idiotic as using a flag that didn't even exist at the time of 9/11

We have this thing called the first amendment.

I know, I know, antiquated tripe expressing oneself freely and all.

Argh, stop peddling that. It doesn't guarantee wanton freedom of speech between civilians, it's to prevent government from telling us to STFU. Not that it prevents you from telling me to STFU and vice versa, it's not worded to convey that by any means. It's a very plainly worded amendment, and all but impossible to misconstrue the way people mistakenly interpret it. It gives us protection from laws, not other people.

And it's a good idea... But, what will they do if they see a bLM flag come out? That's the question.

I think it should be strictly limited to the basic education needed to become a functional, job-holding adult and nothing else...

And home-ec for the ladies, don't forget that part please.

Talk to the teacher's unions about that.

Then there's this.
www.beliefnet.com...

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [“]united force[“] to solve economic, political or social problems.

The victims of 9/11 wouldn't even know what the " Thin Blue Line " flag was supposed to represent. They had never seen it.

How is that honouring them ?

Schools are government property and must respect the constitution. Suspending these students for flying that flag is a violation of their first Amendment rights especially since it does not violate any of the tenets the SCOTUS ruled on 4 times prior in cases where speech can be infringed on within school grounds.

It isn't a free for all on school property. The SCOTUS has made it quite clear that context matters with regard to how speech is treated in public schools. This flag does not fall outside of that context so therefore suspending the students was, in my personal opinion, unconstitutional.

Just our district Middle School Standards

What do you think that last item is if not a certain level of political activism? Promote and sustain "social justice" and "equity"? Think ours is the only district?

The victims of 9/11 never saw the 9/11 memorial in NYC either.

What an asinine thing to say dude.

Ok, in that context, it's hard to argue. it's not government silencing. I do admit I got ahead of myself there, and assumed implied intent incorrectly.

< sigh >

Might as well pour an apology beer for ya

Is it a political statement? Unfortunately, yes. It is, now. But only because politicians in support of lawless behavior have joined the ranks of those against it.

I am no friend of the government. So don't get me wrong. But there is something absurd about one arm of our collective government saying that supporting another arm of our collective government is somehow incorrect.

Lets not forget: school itself is political. It is the state, under the direction of political appointees, educating our children. Interesting side note: in the state of Texas, all children are born as wards of the state. The state merely allows the parents to raise them. That is the world we live in. And instead of correcting that kind of horsecrap, we are fighting over whether or not its ethical to loot, burn, and pillage.
