Too bad past recipients have rendered this award pretty much meaningless, President Trump actually earned it.

It will be a feather in his hat, and begin the Trump dynasty's collection of Nobel Peace Prizes.

*urgh*

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE PULL THIS MAN'S HEAD OUT OF TRUMPS ANUS?!

After Obama got it for no real reason is the Nobel Peace Prize really prestigious anymore.

Nomination was submitted by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament

Christian Tybring-Gjedde is a Norwegian far-right politician who represents the anti-immigrant Progress Party.

Trump has had his name put forward it remains to be been if he makes the shortlist.

Am just pointing out that a nomination is pretty meaningless and he is unlikely to win it.

So like anyone cares what you opine on dealing with what you think a nomination is worth...lol

Lets get to the real point, do you think he would deserve it?

Trump should be tried at the Hague for crimes against humanity.

Like Obama?

What exactly did Trump do...lol Stopping wars is now a crime?

Obama even won and he loved unauthorized drone strikes and proxy wars to topple governments. Doesn't mean much

Obama got his without doing anything other than being the first Black President, do we call that Black privilege... I would bet years later many who voted him to get one sure wished they could take it back.

Kind of like the 1619 project winning a Pulitzer Prize.... What a joke...

Post this baloney thread instead of Salt Lake City police shooting a 13 year old white boy with autism???

If the OP had their head in the right place they would have included the "nomination" comes from an alt right lawmaker who has nominated trump before.

If you want to have a discussion about that shooting then start a damn thread.

I don't expect anyone to care about my "opine" anymore than they would care for your's. Although I do find it funny that you go on to ask for my opinion....so I guess you care about it.

So since you seem to care so much about my views on the matter....

On the one hand I think the steps he has taken in the Middle East to try to broker pace have been positive and he has made positive steps with DPRK yet on the other hand he has overseen an administration that has seen some of the worse civil unrest in America in living memory, he has helped to foster unrest with Sino-American relations, has undermined NATO, pulled out of the INF treaty, has basically denied climate change and I could probably go on.

In short, on balance I can see some good things he has done and give him credit for them but overall his administration I think has had a negative impact on global peace and as such I would say he doesn't deserve it.

That said though the prize is a bit of a joke anyway.

To be clear this is me stating my opinion, which you seem to care enough about to ask for, I on the other hand have zero interest in your opinion on the subject.

So these crimes of Trump's must be the kind that "no reasonable prosecutor" would pursue. I've heard of those types of crimes.

Oh look! Somebody prosecuted something Trump!

The parent of Trump Taj Mahal, one of Atlantic City, New Jersey’s struggling casinos, has settled U.S. government charges that it violated federal laws designed to thwart money laundering, court filings show.

Trump Taj Mahal Associates LLC agreed to the assessment of a $10 million civil penalty by the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, according to a proposed consent order filed on Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware.

A judge ordered President Donald Trump on Thursday to pay $2 million to settle a lawsuit accusing him and his family of misusing funds from the now-shuttered Trump Foundation to further his political interests, confirming previous reporting about financial mismanagement related to Trump and his charities.

The lawsuit was brought in July 2018 by the New York state attorney general.

And then of course, there are the crimes that Trump was impeached for.

Regarding crimes against humanity,

I really do wonder if Obama and Trump could theoretically be tried for war crimes regarding the use of targeted drone strikes.

I specify which opinion I was talking about didn't I? "with what you think a nomination is worth"

What has been one negative impact? No new wars, getting out of old ones slowly, being hard on China, making news deals that don't rape America? 5+ Middle East countries coming together with Israel...UAE is just the start...I find it interesting you seem to have a list of them somewhere...lol So what negative impact has happen to NATO if Trump wants to hold their feet to the fire of responsibility...maybe NATO shouldn't be 90% America as it has been. INF.. Russia, Iran and China don't play by the rules, but they want America too... Once again another bad deal like so many in the past.

To be clear this is me stating my opinion, which you seem to care enough about to ask for, I on the other hand have zero interest in your opinion on the subject.

Reread my post and don't be such a snowflake...You stated your opinion on what is the worth of a nomination and I just pointed out your opinion on that mean squat...

Ohhh your gonna need to try a little harder than that son.

Now come on, don't ask for my opinion then say it means squat because you obviously care quiet about about my views on this subject. Which is understandable because of course you would care because your reading the views of someone better informed and more articulate than yourself who can actually forumate an opinion on a subject that is somewhat more coherent than "lolling" name calling and deflecting with other such nonsense.

So if you want to have a discussion about differing views on the question of whether Trump does or does not deserve a Nobel peace prize then your going to need to up your game a little before someone like me is even going to care about the views of someone like you.

That means stop name calling, stop the childish insults, stop treating this like your lads watsapp group chat and string together sentences that make at least a little bit of sense.

President Trump is now announcing his shortlist for Supreme Court Justices. Do you think someone is not feeling well and will not return for the Supreme Court fall session which begins on the first Monday of October?

I am really confused. This thread started as announcing a fact. I didn't see anyone here celebrating Trump's victory or his winning, only that he was nominated. And his reason for being nominated is also fact. Even if nobody on the left is allowed to speak about it. But being angry because someone nominated him seems so far past shallow, I'm not sure what it's called.

If he wins, you can all be really angry. And Sookie can convene her tribunal and try Trump for Obama's war crimes in Afghanistan. But till then, why don't you silly people relax.

His handling of the Corona Virus and COVID 19. That alone opens a can worms of crimes against humanity that include all Trump's greatest criminal fantasies.

Now, I'm not going to take this thread so far off topic as to present some essay on Trump's crimes against humanity. I'm here to double down on the irony of Trump's self promotion for this award, how important it is to him, while pulling the United States of out of the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, at the Hague', in the Netherlands, where human rights treaties are enforced, and sanctioning its individual members for looking into human right violations in Afghanistan by US soldiers.

Meanwhile, his civil rights record isn't so good at home either.
