Twitter used for child pornography and abuse.....DOJ.

So, the DOJ just busted a guy with tens of thousand of child porn images and videos. Oddly, they note in the story this:

In addition, Gilreath used various social media, including three Twitter accounts and one Gab account, to knowingly receive, transport and distribute child pornography.

This guy was a real piece of trash. The majority of the images and videos were of infants and toddlers.

United States Attorney Jason R. Dunn announced that Wesley David Gilreath, age 30, of Boulder, was sentenced today to serve 186 months in federal prison (15.5 years) followed by 10 years on supervised release for possession of child pornography.  Gilreath was remanded at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing.  The Denver office of the FBI joined in today’s announcement.


According to the stipulated facts contained in his plea agreement, the FBI searched Gilreath’s phone pursuant to a federal search warrant after it was found on a bus.  The contents of Gilreath’s phone included approximately 12,000 images and 200 videos depicting child pornography.  Gilreath also used the phone to seek out child pornography. 


On July 31, 2019, the defendant was arrested pursuant to a federal warrant.  During a subsequent search of his residence, FBI agents seized a thumb drive with approximately 22,000 images and 2,400 videos depicting child pornography.  Agents also seized a second phone with approximately 4,750 images and 1,400 videos depicting child pornography.  The child pornography on the thumb drive and both of the defendant’s phones included images and videos depicting the sexual abuse and torture of toddlers and infants.  In addition, Gilreath used various social media, including three Twitter accounts and one Gab account, to knowingly receive, transport and distribute child pornography.

How the hell do these giant social media platforms get away without policing their own sites for such cruel, inhumane and disgustings acts is beyond me, if they cant ensure that their platform is free from such obscenity then it should be shut down or harsh/heavy fines imposed.

found "secret" groups were being used by paedophiles to meet and swap images.

groups with names such as "hot xxxx schoolgirls" containing stolen images of real children

the argument that they are to big to police is pathetic, platforms like these should not be allowed to grow unless they can show 100% compliance with laws of most countries regarding child porn, they make millions of ££$$ profit and it must be invested into policing or securing their sites not into shareholders bank balances.

Their defense is that they are a platform, not a publisher, but when they censor people for views they don't like, then they claim they can act like a publisher instead of a platform.

Here's the thing that gets me - pedophiles know everyone hates them and that if they get caught with child pornography, the're going to be in a world of trouble, so they all go to certain lengths to hide their activities and interests... But yet you have people like this who are trading around tens of thousands of child pornography images and videos on Twitter, despite hiding their activity and being secretive...
So how are they finding and identifying each other? There's some way they're doing it, some set of code words or images they're using. You can't just message random people on Twitter and say "Hey, wanna trade pictures of 5 year old kids being raped?". How do these pedophiles know what to say, what codes to use, how to find each other? Where do they even learn this?

They do have code language....and it has been discussed here a lot.....mostly in RATS.

Another thread here recently mentions some kind of pizzagate message on the same subject, while pizzagate had a supposed political reference.

I think perverts should be classed as just that, perverts, and besides, private browsing, is no more private than the man in the moon.
It's probably safe enough then to reckon that these guys are idiots, maybe even want to be caught, who knows?
The odds are against them big time just from the NSA, go and search for the facilities. Maryland, Bluffdale, Utah and yonks of other places, with hundreds of thousands of people watching everything, even some using the places for personal gain...so plain stupid!

I have questions that are taboo on this subject. I think the dude should die in prison as he is probably a perp. All those vids and images more than likely involved. If not he is sick in the head and should be institutionalized.

My question is what about the authorities viewing these videos. Are they also in possession of child porn? Where is the line drawn? Is it ok for the authorities to view and possess this material.

Is there a program that views it so people do not have to ? If not why not. Anyone that has to view those images are scarred for life.

Interesting you mention that.

I worked with a kid i would call a savant.....in 2002 he had written software that could discern porn in email based on color and geometry. It was very interesting. Never kept up with him, but my guess is the software could have been sold to both sides of the industry....those wanting to find it and businesses wanting to keep it out.

Could easily have been written to work as a "scraper" for anyone looking for something specific i would guess.

I can also say that there are definitely human viewers of it as well, and they are not considered suspect for viewing evidence. The same evidence is used in jury trials for these types of cases and the jury has to view them as well.

when pizza gate stuff was being exposed I remember people finding massive pedo rings on twitter. They tagged the FBI in all the accounts. The people who tried to expose the pedo rings got banned from twitter.

Twitter is a a pedophile operation at its heart. They don't even hide it at all. There are thousands of pedo accounts on twitter still right in the open not even private showing kids having sex and underage child porn.

I hope Trump is actually doing something because the FBI sure as hell isn't.

I've read most of the reply's to this OP. It is quite striking that all of you deep thinkers go strait to condemning this person without even noticing the red flags in the news report that was cited.

It seems evident that I can call any one of you a pedophile and any ridiculous claims after that must be true, right?
