Most conservatives realized a while ago that Matt Drudge is a sellout, but it seems he's even more of a sellout than we realized.

Thomas Paine is reporting that the Drudge Report is straight-up running a pay-to-play scheme, where you need to pay to get him to link to your article.

This is ultimately coming from a named insider within the Drudge Report.

I think it was HL Mencken that said " no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American Public."

Or the famous PT Barnum quote "there's a sucker born every minute"

Perhaps we need a government media czar to keep everything on the up and up!!

there is money to be made getting low information people to push their low information stories. Drudge might as well get his cut. Some tool bags our there just have too damn much money. So they can use it to project the news they wish to see. Problem is, those who know better, will just go somewhere else. Some already have.

Just confirms for me the reason I stopped reading Drudge nearly a year ago. Once upon a time it was cutting edge, now it is tired and I see bought and paid for by the people who want him to link to their articles.

Like every other site out there, it costs real money to keep it up and running. Nothing to see here.

How much is Matt Drudge even involved anymore? I remember when it first started going downhill and I had heard that he sold it and was not controlling the content anymore. I could be wrong but I remember hearing That.

I always like Drudge for a topic wide mix of stories that often times were not On the mainstream news. Then the stories weren’t as good or as broad and I haven’t been back in many years

Good news.

Trump should just buy him out.

If for no other reason than to show the sheer absurdity and hypocrisy.

An enity of questionable character undoubtedly would of required Drudge to sign a non-disclosure agreement preventing him from confirming he no longer owned it if he wanted the big bucks, otherwise its users would of abandoned the site immediately ...

Capitalism is great, BUT, Drudgereport is a so-called 'news' site.

It seems that 'pay to play' for news would be characterized more as 'advertising', more accurately, not 'news' so much at that point any longer.

It was reported that the site was sold late last year. I believe the rumor is that Matt Drudge has some sort of nda where the new owner is not made public - possibly until after the election

I think you missed my point, but maybe I didn't make my point very well.

Pay to play for news, means the payors get to choose what news is reported, and would be less likely IMHO to 'vet' it appropriately for truthfulness, potentially.

It would make Drudgereport seem more like a big infomercial hahaha ... if true?
