“Operation Not Forgotten,” conducted in Atlanta and Macon this month, resulted in the rescue of 26 children, the safe location of 13 children and the arrest of nine perps.
“When we track down fugitives, it’s a good feeling to know that we’re putting the bad guy behind bars. But that sense of accomplishment is nothing compared to finding a missing child,” said Darby Kirby, Chief of the Missing Child Unit, said in a statement.

I never know whether it is something to rejoice over or not because in
all probability the damage has already been done to those poor children
who will never be able to erase their memories.
In a way they are never going to fully recover........

We are all born into, and nobody recovers from "The Human Condition".
The trick isn't to erase, run from or hide bad memories, the trick is to DEAL WITH THEM so life can continue without permenant problems.
Understanding and acceptance are becoming obsolete these days in favour of brushing things under carpets. Your post is a classic example of apathy.

at least they'll have a chance to recover
not locked up and drugged and dead by twenty.
An operation is something you recover from......yet you can NEVER get rid
of the scars.

That's true, my kids are c-section births. The scar's not going anywhere and the nerves are still borked (I'm numb to everything but pressure in the lower abs) but there's still no reason for me to wallow over it. I'm not telling you how to deal, but I am saying equating abuse to a physical scar, which virtually everyone has to one degree of severity or another, is not apt or even close to accurate.

What do you suggest be done to help the healing?
