Yeah it's funny when foreign countries influence elections.

MY GOD IT"S HORRIBLE!!! This is why they need to do something fast! How could they be so lax in letting this happen? They knew Russia was capable of despicable acts such as this! AND THEY DID NOTHING!

Heads will roll I tell you. Heads will roll.

Okay Q. This is just dumb now.
I don't do Q. our election was hacked by Russia! Do you want that to happen to the UK as well? I sure don't. It was horrible. I was on facebook, I saw the attacks.

I don't know. I want a fair election. I think Tump was voted in fairly. If That's the worry.

I explained quite clearly what is behind this nonsense yet quite predictably the usual suspects completely ignore that and continue to peddle their rhetoric and try to portray something in a way that fits in with their locked in political ideology.

Just as pathetic as those seeking to use this nonsense to overturn the outcome of a democratically held referendum.

Two sides of the same coin.

I did make this thread rather tongue in cheek to highlight the lack of discussion about UK politics here, yet so many from the UK feel the need to express their hatred for our president. But I didn't intend to wrangle you into this. I was hoping for a few others to poke in. my apologies if I struck a nerve.

Didn't "Gestapo" Mueller disappear in 1945?

Cheers

No need to apologise at all.

Once over there would have been many Brits chirping in....but I think many have given up the ghost with ATS due to the threat of it being shut down and the over over abundance of Trump based threads.

The point I was making is that this alliance of champagne socialist types, academics lodged in their ivory towers and politically correct snowflakes are seeking to use this alleged abuse of democracy to overthrow the result of a democratically held ballot.
They will use any tactic to overrule the will of the British people because they arrogantly assume that they know what is best for the UK and that we really didn't mean to vote the way we chose to vote.

Their arrogance knows no bounds.

If Russia did interfere - and its a BIG #ing if - then just how much influence do a very small number of Russian emigree's and a Russian funded 'disinformation campaign' have on a nationwide referendum with evenly matched and regulated funding which was constantly monitored by independent watchdogs and regulators?

The FACT is the British people chose to leave the EU and so many pro-EU voters can not accept that and will do anything possible to try to overturn the result of the referendum.

Yup, this is old news from 2017. Here's the Department of Culture, Media and Sport 2017 report and figures on Russian attempts to influence Brexit publications.parliament.uk... It's a desperate attempt to try and recycle old info and court cases that concluded a couple of years back.

There was an orchestrated campaign by Russia to use State and fake social media accounts to push for Brexit but it had very little, if any, influence on the outcome of the referendum as most people had made their minds up years before the public got to have a say.

EDIT: Being really pedantic but the Leave.EU campaign did break electoral rules by overspending and were fined nearly £500,000 and the Commons Intelligence Committe found it's main financier, Aaron Banks to be a Russian asset over Brexit and may be heading to the slammer but there was no evidence his backroom dealings with the Russian had any influence on the referrendum. It's all been investigated and multiple reports conclude it had no measurable effect on the vote.

Yes, I stand corrected, I recall that now.

As you say, the influence it had must have been marginal, if any.
And I have to say it was more than countered by the heavily weighted pro-EU stance shown by all major news corporations and outlets.
All the terrestrial TV stations and Sky were so pro-Remain that it got to the point where Brexit campaigners and their views were openly derided and denounced and Brexit supporters portrayed as goose stepping racists and uneducated morons bordering on devil spawn.

How many people literally believe everything coming from the #saveourchildren bs that's all over social media at the moment?

I've got a few friends who do, one who often sends me links and stuff on the topic that I feel inclined to dissect and show her how it's absolute nonsense.

Some people will believe anything, including Russian propaganda that's supported by bots. It's a piece of piss to make a controversial story viral. Especially if you're supporting the target's personal convictions and beliefs. In other words Russian influence is negligible... We're not talking brainwashing, it's not like they're turning pacifists into raving murdering lunatics.

That said, thick people have a right to vote too. One way or another they'll end up doing someone else's bidding. That's influence.
