There are three branches of government, a separation of powers to help keep things in check. The legislative write the laws, the judicial interpret the laws and the executive that enforce the laws.

Sounds like I have rocks in my head from listening to dad to much. He was good with some stuff, but had his issues. We do have a lot of fathers though looking back through the generations. A lot of their work and wisdom helped make the world we do have today.
