Is it possible that these could be clandestine Chinese satellites that no-one on the ISS knew about or are not known to the general public?

Maybe known only to the military/intel community?

I think they are probably electrical sprite effects in the exosphere.

That actually seems to explain all the odd issues, so it's plausible.

So... Electric sparks.

Looks like the "unknown object" distorts the light from the star behind it near the last two lights on the right side going left.
It is as if part of it is cloaked...

If they're eyeball-visible, the worldwide amateur satellite tracking network would have seen them. www.satobs.org
