I'm a huge football fan(not ass huge as DBcowboy, shape wise) but I refuse to watch if I see a player kneel. I enjoy our Anthem and always stand with hand over my heart. Even when home alone.

I'm going to go ahead and call this likely or mostly false, as the national anthem is only televised during the Super Bowl and certain playoff games. At least, that's the way it was before this fake controversy and the networks needed to give the MSM video footage of the kneeling.

How about just ignoring it?

It is 2 minutes which doesn't add or take anything away from you, unless you let it.

Oh, it's not about me, I've been training at the SJW academy and I was testing my knowledge. I saw another guy who looked like he might have been upset, so I decided to champion the cause I believe he was angry about. But as a wise man once said, you do you. You could have ignored this thread, but felt so compelled to tell me not to worry about it. That takes perseverance. I think that's in next week's lesson. I'm so jelly, you are on level 3 at least.....

I was joking about the racist thing. Everything and everyone is racist. It really has no meaning anymore.

No compromise.

LOL, what if we make T-shirts that say, "Kneeling? While you are down there....."

Even as a chick, I would wear that! If you're going to be at that height, might as well make it worth my while to put up with...

I like the way you think.

Fox Sports has stopped showing the anthem before the Detroit Tiger baseball games. There are no fans in the stands so I'm ok with that. I don't know if any of our players kneel or not, I do know a few of them have worn BLM practice shirts. I don't care if they want to kneel or not, just not during the anthem. I would be all for keeping them all in the locker rooms while the anthem is played. I gave up watch football, which I've loved since I was a kid, because of the kneeling. Since that started their behavior has gotten exponentially worse, hence the "National Felon League" moniker and I'd rather not watch that either, but it is still sad to me.

To be fair, participating on ATS does add to my enjoyment, so it isn't quite the same.

Still, I ignore a lot of threads, so my ignore-fu isn't that shabby.

It's not about the anthem so it wont stop anything.
they will just kneel at other times during the game.

We could try listening to them about the issue of police violence?
That might help.

Or we could acknowledge their constitutional right to protest as they see fit?

If it bugs people, why not just go get a beer?
Honestly, how many times do we really stick around for the national anthem before a game starts anyway?
Speaking for myself, it’s always over before I hit the couch with a cold one.

Regardless of where we come down on the message or the venue, the more energy we give it, the bigger it becomes.

Don't watch sports, ESPN any more.

It's gone from my life.

Completely.

Now my wife and I binge watch stuff on Amazon Prime or Netflix.

Talk about handicapping a sport!

"With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the score is still 0 to 0."

"That's right Jim, but wasn't that National Anthem just the greatest?"

What would be their reaction if they played the black anthem and white players took a knee?

That's what I am waiting for.

The "protestors" say that our National Anthem doesn't represent them... so they replace it with an anthem that represents only a single race. In the name of EQUALITY.

You can't make this stuff up!

Obviously a new sporting code needs to be put in place:

I think at this point, the entire world is aware of police violence. But that message is quickly fading away as Antifa thugs burn and beat their way through democrat cities.

But as I said, I don't watch anymore, so I don't see it. Because I'd rather not. And to my knowledge, I still have the right not to.

I have some solutions.

One is to stop caring about what wealthy spoiled brats think. Pro athletes have been fawned over for so long they think they matter.

Two is turning off sports. Their platform exists because people watch.

I think number two is where I'm at. Watching sports used to be, for me, one of the last pure forms of entertainment that seemed untainted by politics. Rather than patronize sports that feel its ok for their employees to proselytize the customers, I think I'll just decline watching.

quickly fading away as Antifa

Blame antifa not the athletes.

I don't think I've seen any athletes in the streets causing problems.
I've only seen them doing very peaceful protesting during games.

What’s wrong with taking away the NFL, MLB, etc so Americans win?

Or just fire them on the spot, then even the American fans win.

I'm confused. Where did I blame the athletes? I know Kapernek is anti American, but I never even brought that up. I was just talking about the message as a whole. Not sure if you caught it, but a few people just stopped watching pro sports. If they aren't watching, they aren't getting the message the kneelers are giving. But as I said, the BLM protests were effective, at least until ANTIFA joined in, now people just remember the burning cities and the violence.
