Under the agreement, Israel has agreed to suspend applying sovereignty to areas of the West Bank that it has been discussing annexing, senior White House officials told Reuters.

So, Israel blinked, and in return the UAE will finally recognize the existence of Israel.

What does the UAE get out of this?

Errr........................ When you have a regional power the size of Iran breathing down your kneck , lots of Israeli and USA F-35's, CSG's and Dolphin's don't half seem attractive to cozy up to. Expect SA to follow suit soon

I don't think this has much to do with Trump, although he'd like to think so. It's all Bibi. He's mired in scandal and desperately needs some good news for his own political future. Although shelving Golan Heights projects might piss off some of his financiers. Doesn't look like there's going to be a Trumpville in Golan Heights any time soon! LOL

this was all Obama. it's residual, like the economy. (only the good part, as soon as it tanked, that was Trump)

Tell em sister.

Still, it makes sense to have a US backed coalition to oppose Iran.

We have the little Satan (Iran) and great Satan (communism/color revolutions) as clearly defined enemies of the Republic

If I had to guess at this I would say the realization that getting rid of Israel is impossible is sinking in. They fought Israel for 72 years now with zero success. And the writing on the wall. The oil money is starting to dry up. Demand is way down. World production capability is up. The US recently became a net exporter of oil. Electric cars other energy efficient technologies are coming online. And with the left's preoccupation with a "green" world and "green" economies demand for oil is only going to decrease.

It's getting to the point that Palestine is too expensive to support as a continuing interest. Also the Islamic world has to consider whether or not Allah supports them when it comes to removing Israel. After 72 years they have to think about why they have nothing to show for their efforts. Allah is apparently supporting Israel. And if that's the case then fighting Israel is not Islamic. They're screwing the pooch somewhere. I would say it's time for the Palestinians to take what they can get and sign a peace treaty. Or find out later they completely lost the West Bank and the Gaza Death Strip is a permanently walled off Escape from New York type prison camp impossible to get to and forgotten about by the rest of the world.

Err............... I was referring to Iran breathing down the neck of the UAE and other Arabs, not Israel. But sure all these peoples face the same threat of an Iran going all out to take over the region one way or another.

That threat posed by Iran is allowing an understanding in political circles that they really do need each other when confronting a country as large as Iran. Manpower wise they need each other pure and simple.

At the same time it is not unnoticed in the Arab world that in a mere seventy years Israel has has developed from a last stand for the persecuted asylum seekers escaping death to an economic powerhouse, sure it's small, but in terms of drugs, agriculture, military hardware it is a world leader. The whole region can expect the same if they join in with the Israeli's. So much on offer and so much to gain from peace. We just need to see if the average man in the street rather than the politicians on both sides can get over the past and hold out the hand of friendship

Huge deal and happy to hear it.

Been listening to the coverage and Trump even said we don't need them for anything anymore....not for oil, nothing.

I am sure the US had a lot to do with the negotiations because of our involvement from administrations past.

This is a great move, but it will take time to see how it actually works out.

A lot of crap flows from Toilet Trump's mouth, and you people just continuously seem to swallow it.

Meanwhile in Syria:

An American company has inked a contract with Kurdish authorities in northeastern Syria to develop and export the region’s crude oil under a secretive deal approved by the U.S. government months after President Donald Trump announced he was leaving U.S. troops to “secure the oil,” multiple people familiar with the project told POLITICO.

And if illegally occupying another country in order to steal resources isn't enough, there's the piracy for petroleum:

OK CCPBOT we know where you stand, on planet Pinko.

Trump said he was going to keep the oil in Syria, of course he is going to refine it - super secret wuuuuuuuu - he is not going to give it up to Isis or let Assad off so easy for teaming up with Russia.

Isreal will soft annex Palestine (for now) and the UAE may get some relocation assistance for some of them and the benefits of a growing financial spring and regional security.

Never felt as safe as when walking around TLV at 3.58 am, there are no violent people, there are no nasty dogs, nobody will hurt you, nobody will be nasty to you, even as a twenty something lady nobody will ever try to force themselves on you. It's as safe as it comes and quite enlightening coming from the UK and having experienced our cities at that time. Tel Aviv / Israel is one fantastic place / experiment and one that may make peace for the entire Planet Earth

Most of the Arab world gave up on the Palestinian cause about 20 years ago, they've just been quiet about it. Arafat got about 90% of what he wanted at the 2000 Camp David negotiations. The Saudis, Jordanians, everyone told him Palestine will never, ever get a better deal, just take it, but Arafat walked away. Why?

Because Israel moving to Antarctica wasn't part of the deal. That is the only deal Hamas and the Palestinian terrorist leadership will accept. The end of Israel, or at least no more Jews in the Levant, nothing else matters to them. They pretend this is a fight for freedom, but all it's about is hating the Jews and everyone knows it. Sadly, the leftists that support these terrorists also hate Jews, along with the extreme right, so they have plenty of support. And meanwhile, the Palestinian people continue to suffer, despite having been offered their own state 6 times now. The only reason they are suffering is because they have scum leadership who care more about destroying Jews than helping their people.

I don't think that it will last. Settlement building is an important political football in Israel. A lot of powerful people have a lot of political capital invested in continuing to expand them.

I think that this deal will collapse due to Israeli domestic politics. Conservative groups will push forward with expansions in order to gain support among their base during the next round of elections or the one after that. This deal only has partial support domestically, a lot of people see it as giving too much ground and appeasing too many foreign countries.

A lot of people said the same thing when Egypt and Jordan made peace with Israel. Every single element of the deal may not stay exactly as announced, but the peace treaty is going forward.

Too right it's an amazing achievement by the Trump regime and one of his aims right from the start
If he gets Saudi's and Bahrain on board and something happens for the good regarding the Palestinian people who also deserve a homeland and the right to choose their own destiny then it will be an outstanding achievement

On a side issue Saudi Arabia has now given the green light for El Al to fly over its airspace.................. I mean surely that's going to be one heck of a terror target for Jihadis in the region? Even the Iranians via Houthis etc? I dunno if I'd travel on an Israeli owned plane over Saudi Arabia

Huge news coming out of the Middle East.

Israel and the UAE have reached a historic peace deal and are establishing full diplomatic relations.

The deal appears to have been negotiated at least in part by the Trump administration.

A huge piece of news as part of the deal is that Israel has agreed to suspend annexation of occupied territories that are claimed by the Palestinians in the West Bank.

That should be a big step toward a peace deal between Israel and Palestine, but unfortunately I doubt it will move the needle at all. The poor Palestinians are hostages to their leadership and Hamas, who will settle for nothing less than the end of Israel. No peace is possible with them no matter how much Israel gives up. Just look at the deal Clinton brokered at the end of the 90s that Arafat walked away from.

Still, big news, only the 3rd Arab state to make peace with Israel.

ETA: I have MSNBC on right now and even they are giving it positive coverage, shockingly.

Wednesday, December 23, 2020

I remember how excited everyone in the media and politics was, whenever a smaller Mideast Peace Agreement was brokered. Especially back in the 1970's.

The multiple agreements signed this year are unprecedented! They are significant and positive achievements for all those involved..

President Donald Trump gave national security awards on Wednesday to several top advisers for their role in helping broker agreements aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and four countries in the Arab world.

Trump awarded the National Security Medal to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, national security adviser Robert O’Brien, senior adviser Jared Kushner, Middle East envoy Avi Berkowitz, US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and John Rakolta, US ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

"Thanks to the efforts of these individuals, the region will never be the same as it finally moves beyond the conflicts of the past," the White House said in a statement.

In the past four months, Israel reached deals with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco as part of what the United States calls "the Abraham Accords."

Senior US officials are hoping to seal one more agreement before Trump's term expires on Jan. 20.

The president’s authority to award the National Security Medal dates to 1953, under an executive order that allows for recognition for major contributions in the field of national security.

They were forcibly removed from their homeland, after living peacefully for many generations, so how would ANYONE feel about that?

Everyone wants to live peacefully, of course. Nobody wants war - there is nothing we can gain from it, and everything to lose. Except for those who create wars, and false 'enemies', who are people like us, but labelled as 'evil', and we must stop these 'evil' people, who hate good people like we are!

When Israel was created, as an exclusive nation for Jews, this was why all non-Jews were taken from their very homes, and dumped out like garbage, to live like animals.

Jews from around the world were invited to come in, and live in Israel, a 'pure' nation for Jews to rule, over non-Jews. It's written into law!

Did you know that? Probably not. But it's true. Look it up yourself, if you don't believe me.

Israeli law states that a pure Jew is superior to a half-Jew, a non-Jew is like vermin, and an Arab is worst of all.

You cannot understand why they might hate Israel, now?
