In news guaranteed to get people's eyebrows embedded on the ceiling, the Attorney General of New York, Letitia James has just filed a suit to dissolve the National Rifle Association. Why? Rampant fraud and financial abuse. Here's the link.
Apparently Wayne LaPierre has been diverting case from NRA coffers and spending it on himself or his family. And that's just the initial charges in what's going to be a wild ride of a story.

Posted this in the other thread:

A good deal of people here who are Second Amendment advocates also know the NRA is a corrupt organization that only cares about using member's dues to lobby for the benefit of firearms manufacturers.

Lapierre is a piece of garbage and should end up in prison if these gross malfeasances are true which I suspect they are.

I'm all for dissolving any corrupt organization...as long as it's done properly.
Whether or not the NRA exists as an entity has no bearing on my 2A rights.

How about no. You can go sit down back at your desk, child.

The NRA is not one man, nor four men. The National Rifle Association has been around since 1871.

With good intentions in the beginning. Now, not so much. Just a money scam. Shut it down!

The NRA doesn't manufacture, sell, or regulate guns. What would change if it was vanquished today?

Just bring a lawsuit on the ones breaking the law, not the whole org.

Apparently Wayne LaPierre would allegedly be unable to use its money to send himself on fact-finding trips to the Bahamas.
Seriously, some of the examples of fraud being mentioned are a bit astonishing.

Or just start another organisation that is managed correctly free from the fraud, corruption and other nefarious practices and puts gun owners interests before gun manufacturers etc.

I haven't got a horse in the race yet I can see where the NRA has gone wrong.

The AG of New York was successful in dissolving the Trump Foundation over claims of fraud. What makes this instance different?

Not a big issue, in my opinion.

I'm a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, not the NRA.

*shrugs*

It's like; I support aid to Haitians, but I don't support the Clinton Foundation.

If was really about Fraud and abuse then the DNC and it's party should be dissolved.

After rioting and people defending themselves, shootings on the rise.

It's about getting rid of the second all together.

And what better way to finally get rid of it than destroying the largest lobby group.

For the record a State AG has no effing power to dissolve a national lobby group.

Because if they did every single one days are numbered.

From Peta to the church of climatology.

Meh....I own guns, didn't need the NRA to buy them or use them after. Couldn't really care less.

I'm not afraid of the government coming for my guns. It's a talking point to score points. It's simply not feasible to pull off in the US.
