Montauk always intrigued me on so many levels. seem to remember it being tied to the Philadelphia Experiment and it essentially opened up a portal briefly that let all sorts of interdimensional loose to create havoc and mayhem. Pretty much didn't it go off the rails at Moutauk and they shut it down but were not sure if they were successful or it was too late. Seem to remember some large creature manifested and destroying the place and it just vanished.
I apologize just going by memory of what Ive read will do some searching for links....
No apologies needed; you are on the money.
My recollection, also going purely off what I've read/heard, was that there was an individual linked to both the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk named Al Bielik. He also did a remarkable interview on C2C with Art Bell.
In the interest of fairness, I have heard many questions and accusations about the authenticity of Mr. Bielik's claims and credentials. That's pretty much standard fare for anybody in this game, though.
There is a grainy black and white photo out there that is allegedly of the creature of which you speak, that was set loose during one of the Montauk experiments. If you look at the photo, and read description from eye witnesses, it bore a resemblance to Sasquatch.
Pretty much a blow by blow description of the Stranger Things plotline! Lol(if you haven't watched it yet, youre missing one of the best TV series ever made, all 3 seasons are amazing).

I always wondered why the two traditions the oldest Syriac orthodoxy and the later Greek/Roman orthodoxy fell out with one another, such small differences given that we all accept Christ as our king and lord should not divide us, too much Christian blood has been spilled by misguided men on both sides of that divide no where more heinously than between the Orthodox and Catholics of the former Yugoslavian federation, during the second world war it was so bad that the pro Nazi Croat militia whom would even take small children and tell them to make the sign of the cross, if they did it the Catholic or Croat way they would live and if they did it the Orthodox way they would slit the child's throat, since they were actually the same identical people race and ancestry other than there split along a border demarked by a river when the Church underwent it's schism they could not tell any other way if they were Croat or Serb children.
Story's such as this inhumanity are harrowing to hear about, the cruelty sadly went both way's.
Being western European I am not from this tradition of hatred and have never held any animosity toward the Orthodoxy, your churches (especially the Greek Orthodox) are extremely beautiful, miracle happen as frequently among the Orthodox believers than even among the most devout Catholic believers but God seems to love his children equally, both church's have a tradition of icon's crying tears, holy oil and even blood sometimes sweating from icon's of Jesus, both have saint's accepted by both church's though most of those predate the schism.
Take this Catholic Icon, it is a mysterious one and also remember the Shroud of Turin was probably held in Constantinople by the Orthodox Church until the last Crusade - an evil crusade since it was a perverted crusade for wealth and not for faith, when the western knights whom were supposed to be aiding Constantinople instead sacked it Because the Doges of Venice had blackmailed the leaders of this final and damned crusade to instead of attempting to take back Jerusalem which was there original intent instead to attack Constantinople for control of the Bosporus straits which Venice coveted - money, power and greed and not for God.
This image of the image of Guadeloupe is more like a photograph, the material it is made of is basically a cactus cloth, a type of paper fabric that should have rotted away but it has survived over 400 years without rotting, it also survived a bomb in the alter before it, the alter a solid stone alter was blown to pieces but not one person in the crowded cathedral was harmed and the image was completely intact despite being right over the alter.
Recently an analysis of the stars on the cloak which also appear to be the exact image of the sky on the night the image appeared are also an encoding of musical notes.
This is as close as the music can be rendered when converted from the star pattern on the Tilma (Cactus cloth Cloak) into musical notes.
Then there are the apparitions of our Lady at Zeitoun over an Egyptian Orthodox Church, she appeared to both Christian and Muslim witness and bowed before the Cross to tell them to pray to Jesus, healed a blind Muslim man and perhaps averted a blood massacre of Christians in Egypt since many of those that saw her and those that are there children joined hand's to protect the Christians and there church from Islamic militant attack's.
All around the world there are community's of Christians that protect Muslim's and Muslim's that protect there Christian neighbours but all we ever hear about is the bad stuff that goes on because it is what makes the news.
They are also God's children, he will sort the chaff from the wheat and we can only hope we go into the barn not the fire.
This appeared after a massacre of Christians in Egypt
