Once again though you're still proposing a solution that, at best, sees the rich and the poor take in a greater take home at a proportionate rate. In reality, the rich would see a greater take home.

How does that fix income disparity?

Bad IOUs at that.

It is well and truly a pyramid scheme. But unless someone comes up with something better, it's all there is.

Congress? Fat chance.

Feel free to tell us what Trump actually meant with this tweet.

Hmmm.

More taxes on millionaires..
Raise minimum wage...
Laws to prevent price gouging in crisis situations..

But yeah... let’s assume wealth redistribution...why not...

Taxes on millionaires which will go to what? Building a stupid wall?
Or social programs, universal health care?

The man is a fool.

I hope it builds a wall..
Would have been handy during the pandemic...

How about we let trump explain what he meant instead of jumping to stupid conclusions..

He never does.
He leaves it to his press secretary to make his excuses.

Been a while since I've said this, but...I 100 percent agree.

It doesn't.

But UBI might.

Edit:

We might be able to fund a UBI if more people have take-home pay(sales taxes and what not).

Sales taxes are regressive. They impact the less wealthy far more than the wealthy.

Income taxes can be (and are, to a certain extent), progressive.

True, but they are a proven revenue generation method and they are used everywhere. I'm also not against a top tax bracket rate increase.

I will say that confiscatory levels of taxation are immoral to me regardless of how much money the individual makes or how much in assets that person has.

Perhaps a luxury tax would be called for. Rather than taxing food and other essentials.

Raising taxes on the silly, ridiculously, wealthy instead of reducing them?

While that is something I support somewhat (im a libertarian at heart...i detest taxes to begin with...but if we are going to do it, the wealthy benefit the most from what the country has to offer, and they stand the most to lose...so should have the most investment too), i know Trump ain't going to do it.

Unless he gets a 2nd term, and just ceases to give a crap. I doubt it...but in a second term he'd have less need to worry about placating donors.

Go ahead then. Educate us crazy Lefties who are too dumb to even tie our shoes.

Educate you? You mean think for you? Have an imagination where yours is completely lacking?

Thats what you are asking for. You couldn't imagine what he might mean other than "wealth redistrubution", and instead want me to do your thinking for you.

No. Think a little harder.

Yeah. I'm worth 100 million and I lost 10.
Bummer. What, oh what, will I do?

I'm very much against taxing food.

The price of food should be kept as low as possible. I think taxing it is asking to create hardship.

I'm thinking non-food items and some medical needs as well should be exempt.

Luxury tax is definitely on the table. But we all have to decide what constitutes luxury in America. lol
