Trump planning on banning social media platform TikTok

In order to beat China, we must become China it seems.
Everyone beloved king Trump has decided to use his presidental authority to ban a very popular social media platform TikTok in order to stick it to China or some such.

During a flight from Tampa on Friday, the president told press pool reporters traveling on Air Force One he plans to ban the Chinese-owned social media platform from operating in the United States as soon as Saturday. In response, TikTok’s US General Manager Vanessa Pappas recorded a message saying, “We’re not planning on going anywhere.”

Yes, I know the comments already will be high fiving the censorship. Woohoo! Next, youtube and facebook..and anyone else who made fun of him.

Anyhow, for the few people with principles over partisanship left on here, whatcha think, cant anything be banned at this point with such a lameass excuse?

Once Trump realizes China has access to the internet, I reckon he'll try to shut that down also (and by China, it really means anyone who is making fun of him).

Wanted to also add that TikTok did respond basically telling trump to kiss their capitalist asses. Well done. That'll get the bootlicks angry, but who cares.

I have some really good news, Microsoft is about to acquire TikTok.

Negotiations are possible and the deal may not happen. ”

I am against government using their power to shut down an industry while leaving similar industries. TikTok, Youtube, etc..all social media is ultimately the same. a 10 second video on tiktok vs a 10 hour video on youtube...why close one down over the other.

There is no public threat TikTok uniquely has over other platforms. This is simply Trump attempting to shut down criticism by shutting down entire platforms with executive order.

Zoom is doing fine and they flat out have been caught....and far more dangerous than some teen doing the OK boomer video clip in regards to spying.

Ahhh.

So you qualify it because you are for government banning, infringing if it's a public threat.

There has been alot of talk that Tik Tok hlis taking too many liberties on phones. Or in other words, harvesting your data.

Since it's owned by a chinese company , the chinese government is probably sharing the data collected .

Im not sure banning it is the right path foward.

Just uninstall it if you don't want china to have your data.

It's not like the u.s. is better. The NSA is stealing everyone's data also.
