That's the inherent problem. For years, the US (and other nations) welcomed Chinese students who later went on to become scientists & engineers at key research facilities or sensitive installations. And these individuals had family back home that could be used to coerce individuals into providing data to Chinese researchers. There wasn't a lot of political pressure over that span of time to safeguard our research, not like there is now, and it came back to bite us. I would not underestimate China's HUMINT capability, hacking is only one aspect of a very large espionage campaign.

Problem is they are quite good of copying and learning but due to the state of their political ideals anyone who thinks outside the box or show initiative is quickly extinguished.

the nuke blue print was given to them by a spy that was at the DOE.

you also have to remember that these days its not the government keeping these secrets its corporations like LM and Boeing and there cyber security is godly.

there is a Top Secret)TS) internet that the military has for various things and the terminals are in places like CIC's on ships and armored buildings that are Faraday shepherded and have no connections to anything civilian

and knowing something exists and building something are very far apart, yes form follows function but its the material science and the other tricks up some of our most advanced craft.

Black triangles exist and that is just a fact, and no one in the public world that knows how they work and what makes them display such startling performance. If China could build these things they would let everyone know about it.

in China "face" is a unbearably valuable commodity, so something so ground breaking would be impossible for them to not them show off

I would recommend that you challenge some of latter assertions you made.

For any newbies, keep skeptical and read old threads. There's good stuff in some of them.

With regards to the Chinese & wanting to show off their developments. You're talking about a country that was the home for the author of the Art of War, a country whose political/military establishment are taught the importance of subversion & deception as a useful tactic in achieving one's goals.

i have spent allot of time in China for School we went over there as a kind of Dr's with out boarders but with students.

so i had lots if run ins with prety high up military/party members and they are all about how people look at them they call that 'face'.

it is on of the most important things in China that you have good face between friends but even more so against rivals.

IF China has something ground breaking in the aerospace world you can bet there would at the very least rumors.

#Everything that comes out of China is officially released so they know exactly what people are saying.

there are allot of foreign students in the US from Asia but most of them stay here unless sent by the party and those students dont get to do the cool 'extra curricular' activities that some get via military contracts awarded to US schools.

some leave but they leave with the same knowledge they could get in china, they only want to come here for......you guessed it bragging rights and a huge social ladder boost.

back in the SDI days there were a goof amount of scientists that were foriuners or had meetings with them ended up dead in very strange ways that were all ruled accidents or suicides and it was all in a year or less.

China has ONE thing over the US and that is sheer cannon fodder they are willing to sacrifice, they might have some cool toys but as far as i know there have been ZERO sightings of large or small BT's and other such things so i dont think they are woking on them.

if a B2 is over 1 BILLION per air-frame(lifetime) imagine what some of these advanced craft cost and that not even getting into production knowledge and all that stuff.

RIGHT NOW would be the perfect time for CHINA to come out ith some amazing tech to show the world they arent some sht country

JSF was like that at Warton, we had the usual CAT-5 ports for the phone and PC for most mainstream projects and then in certain areas special ones for the JSF project. I imagine because JSF teams were based throughout the site, whereas say the Taranis team (and probably Replica and others) had their own building on South Side so the whole internet was separate.

Why do you all think china is building a laser so powerful it could theoretically stimulate pair production?
