My 2 cents is that President Trump is willing to help Chicago, but "they" have told him not to.

Well, there's a difference between "legally able to" and "a good political move." If I had to guess, I'd say Trump is frothing at the bit to send in the troops, but his advisors are telling him to wait for the opportune time.

It is actually a mark in his favor IMO that he hasn't already sent the troops in... shows patience and deep thought... but I wish he would hurry up.

I’m supportive of the Feds going through Chicago and doing something to stop the out of hand violence, however, I’m highly curious how they’re going to do this. It’s easy to go to Portland and see the rioters/looters destroying stuff and pulling them off the street, but in the case of Chicago’s gun violence, they’ll either have to flood the streets with Federal agents or luck out with being in the right place at the right time.

These agents are going to become automatic targets of drive by shootings, I have to assume.

If the feds keep the FBI out of it and work closely with chicago police, I bet they could get a few sweet targets all lined up for raids.

Three sites a night for a full week and they'd have the organized gangs in disarray and so many confiscated weapons off the street that they could keep the courts busy for years.

With a added bonus of remaining gang bangers coming out in force to retaliate. They'd be easily handled by the regular police combined with some federal forces, and the resulting drop in every day crime would rally support for the PD.
The feds would be able to pull out in a month and hand over many of their prisoners directly to ICE.

Maybe POTUS is just waiting until closer to elections to make a strong strike, with the TV showing bus loads of chicago thugs heading off to prison.
Just as Biden pleas to defund the police in that same city.

Why is no one demanding this violence be addressed? The idiot mayor’s response is to defund their police department and send in the “Census Cowboy”. How can this mayor still be in power?

Because there is a large group of people that just want to be left alone.

They dont like police of any kind. And do not care about the violence that comes with it.

It's their agenda of siding with people who oppose police

They want to protect and keep people who are in and out of jail on the streets.

That's what happened when the Trump Administration sent 50 additional Law Enforcement Officers to Chicago to help, back in 2017.

The mayor at the time Rahm Emanuel, told the police not to cooperate with the federal agents.

After a few weeks they went back to wherever they came from.

Just heard on the news that there are 12,000 Chicago police, but 117,000 Chicago gang members. 7% of the city's population consists of gang members.

Thank you for making it perfectly clear trump has the right to stop the riots. I for one think the mayor needs to be there as the so called protestors throw frozen water bottles and rocks at her. I bet she would tell the police to use lethal force then.

Mayor Idiot is saying something about it. She is saying its Trump's fault. Trump and republicans who, "...refuse to even have a conversation about common sense gun laws".

Here is some information for you to consider while listening to her lies:

SIXTEEN of the top SEVENTEEN cities in the US ranked by murder / non-negligent manslaughter are run by democrats. The only one in the top SEVENTEEN is number twelve, Mobile, Al.

The mayors of all SIXTEEN of these cities run by democrats are on record blaming republicans, most notably Trump, for their crime rates.

The last year a non-democrat was mayor:
St Louis 1949
Baltimore 1967
Detroit 1962
New Orleans 1872
Baton Rouge 2005, prior to that 1995
Kansas City 1991
Cleveland 1989
Memphis 1991
Newark 1953
Chicago 1931
Cinncinnatti 1984 (charter party)
Mobile current
Philadelphia 1952
Milwaukee 1960 (socialist)
Pittsburgh 1934
Indianapolis 1956
Stockton 2009

Trump didn't enter politics until 2016.

Clearly, its all his fault....NOT

My information is quite limited on the other cities, but I did do a lot of deliveries/pickups in New Orleans. I knew that city pretty well before Katrina hit, and it was the ultimate in what many today are seeing as the "Democrat Utopia."

The French Quarter is really not even part of New Orleans. It's just the tourism center. I discount that, because it exists as it exists for one reason: to make money. The rest of New Orleans does not even have a middle class. There are the few who own major businesses there, and there are the lower class who struggle to get by day to day, lucky to push a broom for the fat cats. The only way New Orleans exists in this state is the middle class cities that have sprung up around it. Every morning, these cities empty into New Orleans, the workers lock down everything they own, and they do their 8 hours and go back home. Nothing produced in New Orleans is used in New Orleans; it is all produced using as close to Chinese labor camps as the fat cats can get away with. The people are uneducated, unskilled, and their only hope is to get through another day without dying from a mugging or hunger.

Go to the middle class cities around it, and you will see typical suburbian America... with a Cajun flair, that is. Go further out and you'll come across the real heart of Louisiana, a'la "Swamp People." There is one section of !-55 where I could see ramshackle homes set up beside the water, obviously still being lived in, just like one might expect to see in the early 1900s. They may be ramshackle, but I have had occasion to meet some of these people, and they are proud and happy with their life.

But in New Orleans? With the exception of the French Quarter, no more miserable area of humanity exists in the US that I know of.
