I know that everyone here has at least seen an episode of one of America's favorite tv shows: the Jerry Springer show.

What my question is: is this for real? or are they paid actors?

why would people be so eager to expose their shamefull secrets if there was no money involved?

Furthermore, Is the Jerry Springer show part of a media conspiracy to degenerate America?

I think its both fake and real.

I think all the guest are paid in some way.

I actually think that it is real- there are so many people that want to go onto tv and would probably do anything to get there and being on Jerry is being on tv. I not saying that ALL the stories are realy- maybe some of them make them up- or the tv show makes them up to fill spaces. I think the people are real tho..
Has anyone seen Jerry Springer the opera? very very funny

The reason people go on that show is due to a distinct lack of dignity and an even greater lack of grey matter. They want to be famous, or at least remembered, even if it is for marrying a horse.

I would say that 90% of the guests have mental health issues together with at least 80% of the audience.

If your partner said "I have something to tell you, but you have to appear on The Jerry Springer show to find out", do you say "OK" or do you actually address the issue right there and ask "So, that hairy dwarf transexual you go to the gym with......"

I see only one real reason this prgramme exists, and thats to make the viewers feel better about themselves.

p.s. Shouldn't this be in BTS?

I always felt Jerry Springer as somekind of double agent really out to corrupt the moral minds of middle america. I have seen reruns of his, and checked his facial expressions when those silicone stuffed creatures take it off the stage or when a 13 year old girl claims she had sex with her father. He really seems to enjoy his faked 'shock' expressions.

The man is bad news.

He probably would've ended up as another wanker had he not been on TV, Which is why he is good for entertainment tho. But isnt that the story of Hollywood, as always?

I will say in know at least one show had a real guest, it was a guy i went to school with , the tittle of the show was something like " Im a male escort and i havent told my fiance that im sleeping with my clients". It was hilarious when i noticed one of the guests was an old classmate from highschool , i remember thinking " his parents must be so proud" . Two weeks later they found the guy dead in a hotel room from an apparent suicide. I guess his fifteen minutes of fame didnt feel as good as he thought they would.

Of course he's for real. He managed to pick himself up after having ruined his political career by writing a check to a prostitute, of all things. So, he's no Oprah, or any othe TV personality of any prestige. His show is absolutely ridiculous, and he knows it! But none the less, whether we admit it or not, just about everyone has seen the show at least once, probably more and gotten a laugh or two out of it.

I bet he gets awfully tired of seeing fat, ugly women get naked on the stage, though.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone involved is paid in some way or another, except probably the audience doesn't get paid, they just get their 2 minutes of fame.

Jerry Springer is FAKE. He was caught stageing fights. Why do you think they have the boxers bell to make people fight now? I mean do you really think people would go at each other just because they heard a bell?

Not having watched the show in years, I can't comment on the current antics of Mr. Springer.

The few bits I caught in the past (unemployment and boredom are a dangerous mix
) suggested that, yes, the guests were real. They may be hamming up their differences, and Mr. Springer and the other producers certainly choose their guests to cause the maximum amount of mayhem, but the essential stupidity of the show remains genuine.

In spite of that, from everything I've seen of Mr. Springer outside of his TV show, he's a fairly intelligent and well-educated man. I see his show as the television version of Something Awful (Warning, site is NSFW), though it should probably be the other way around.
