One day after former Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj pleaded not guilty to war crimes charges at The Hague, Kosovo's President Ibrahim Rugova
escaped unhurt when a dustbin exploded just as his car drove past in the province's capital Pristina. The blast at 8:20 am (2:20 a.m. EST) damaged
Rugova's black Mercedes as he headed to see visiting EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

"Thank God I survived again," he said, referring to last year's incident when a grenade was hurled at his home.
Reports say one person was injured in the blast that appeared to be caused by a remote-controlled device.
The president was then seen being transferred to another car and rushed away, according to the Associated Press news agency.

Rugova, seen as a moderate ethnic Albanian leader, was elected Kosovo's president in 2002. He was re-elected in December last year when his party
formed a coalition with the much smaller Alliance for the Future of Kosovo of former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
Kosovo has been administered by the United Nations since 1999 following a NATO war aimed at stopping the crackdown of Serb forces on
independence-seeking ethnic Albanians.
