Yeah we all heard how Japan was buying up our 'Heritage" and how did that work out. They are buying up land at inflated prices and when their economy tanks along with the world that land will be worth a fraction of what they paid for it.

Its hard and sometimes not as cheap but buy local. We are willing to pay more for stuff made first int he US then the EU. It costs more sure but the workers get decent wages and more often than not the quality is such that its often a long term buy versus something so cheap you just toss it and get another one.

I picked up 10 acres last year and am building a house on the land, however at least twice a month I get a letter or call asking me if I want to sell my land. Now the older lady I bought it from had it for decades, and on the market for 5 years, yet didn't sell to them. I like to think she knew better and wanted to sell it to someone local who actually plans to live on it.

Whats funny is imminent domain can be used to snatch it all away if they try to use if to screw us.

I know the feeling of realtors knocking at the door..I chased them away often. It was weekly for a good year when it got real bad. There were bidding wars, places going for substantially more than market/asking. Pretty much every flyer left in my mailbox were Chinese realtor's who were clearly buying up, and selling to offshore Chinese.

To be fair, once people started realising what was happening, there was panic buying from everyone.

Yeah I could see a local realtor reaching out to me with interest, but these are no-name shell companies that I've traced back to foreign entities. Heck some of the plots in the area were already owned by these companies and when I was looking at land they would never respond to any requests for purchase, in spite of being listed for sale. This is semi-rural South Carolina, but still about a 35 minute drive to Charlotte, so it's happening pretty much everywhere.

I am confused, someone said next to fort hood, then later Laughlin AFB. Those are about 225 miles apart. Are we talking about land purchases in both places? Or are we talking about one purchase and we are confused on geography.

You can have all the paper rights to anything you want, they only count when the other party plays nice or has no implements of force. In the event of a collapse scenario the govt would just pass emergency legislation and nationalise/confiscate whatever it deemed necessary. China or anybody else would have to take it the old fashioned way.

I got the name wrong. it was supposed to read Lackland Air Force Base. It is a property sitting right between Austin and San Antonio near Ft Hood and Lackland Air Force Base.

Given the location, it would not be a surprise if those wind turbine towers also included 5G on them as well.

It also houses the Texas Cryptologic Center on Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, operated by the U.S. National Security Agency.
