It was supposed to be the remains of a balloon, 'Project Mogul', designed to trace Soviet nuclear tests. The 'Roswell Crash' happened in July 1947 and 'Project Mogul' was scrapped in 1948. At the time, the US did not believe the USSR HAD the capabilities to build an atomic bomb.

The USSR exploded their first atomic bomb ("Joe-1") in 1949, a year AFTER the US scrapped 'Mogul', followed a year after that, by their second bomb.

The pieces of debris were taken to Roswell AAF base and then shipped to Fort Worth UNDER ARMED GUARD. Why would they need armed guards for bits of a balloon? After it was 'decided' it was a balloon, the remains were sent to Wright-Patterson AAF base.
Why would the military go to all that trouble 'just for pieces of a wrecked balloon'?

Maby it was Top Secret material or technolegy they really wanted to keep safe? Although I am open up to all possibilities.

The balloons they were using were the same as for the weather tests, nothing special. The only part that could have been secret was the equipment pod at the bottom. This could have been transported on its own, the rest of the debris would have been worthless.

The military also claim the 'alien bodies' were test dummies from 'Project Excelsior', and the 'alien' that Glenn Dennis (the Roswell undertaker) saw in the truck was an injured 'pilot'.

Test dummies WERE used for project 'Excelsior' at the beginning and human pilots later. One crashed, and trapped the pilot's head, causing it to swell to twice its normal size. This, they say, is what Dennis mistook for an 'alien'.

Problems: Project 'Excelsior' took place during the late 1950s and early 1960s, 10 years AFTER Roswell.
Before'Excelsior' was 'Manhigh' during the mid 1950s, and then 'Stargazer' at about the same time as 'Excelsior', all doing high altitude parachute tests.
Also, the Roswell witnesses described the 'alien' bodies as being fragile-looking and between 3 and 4 feet tall. The test dummies were 6 feet tall and weighed 200 pounds. Not exactly a match is it?

If balloons crashed, the debris field would not look like that. Balloons drift, not crash.
I have seen a dummy such as was dropped in those tests. It doesn't look like anything that could be alive.
The only dummies involved in the coverup are the men in the military at that time.
Wouldn't the 509th KNOW the differnece between a spaceship and bodies as compared to balloons and dummies when they SEE them? They were in charge of dropping the A-Bombs in Japan. They'd BETTER be alert.
