We may not always see eye to eye on all but we see eye to eye on the Constitution.

It either works for everyone or it works for no one.

So, what are they investigating?? We dont know what they are investigating.. they usually try to keep that information secret as long as they can. And, while it may be true that something from the stormy payouts kicked off this investigation it could be pretty much unrelated to those payouts. Maybe cohen tipped them off about something else?

I've already mentioned here twice that the source says that NY is investigating the hush money paid to the two women during Trump's campaign.

And? Just because they didn't find something doesn't mean something illegal didn't take place in the operations of his businesses.

Uh
Usually that is exactly what it means.

I've never hid my Libertarian views or my dislike for pretty much any politician. You make this seem like a gotcha moment when the only one not aware was just yourself.

So cheering for your team, the way others cheer for their team, does make you the "partisan asswipe" previously mentioned?
Sorry your team is only semi-pro at this point.
It has merit.

If we actually had zero tolerance for criminal activity for public officials we'd have a government that worked together to make this country a better place.

^This.

No, actually I don't agree with the court.

Most Trump supporters won't. Just like if this was a Democrat President most of the Liberals would lose their minds.

This is the part I find the most succulent and delicious. I eat this up like I eat up stem cells....slowly, and with much enjoyment.

Thank you.

And I can't believe you eat stem cells. Gross.

Grand Jury proceedings are not public, I'm not going to pretend I know what's going on but you can.

Unlike most boot licking Republicans I'm fine with putting criminals where they belong.

Except when it comes to throwing Mazeltov cocktails, rioting, looting, decapitating, burning tearing down statues. Illegally spying on a presidential candidate framing members of his staff, and manufacturing impeachment evidence, and rape against supreme court nominations.

But Trumps the 'bad' guy and 'boot' licking R's.

Gonna fit right in with Never Trumps new socialist world order.

Your facetiousness aside, I have to tell you that I am very disappointed in those three. I didn't think they would side with the liberal judges as often as they do. They are not proving to be as unbiased as I'd hoped.

I think this is a case of them being totally unbiased. Trump supporters will obviously feel otherwise.

Answer my question that I asked the other poster about criminality.

You're pretty demanding, you know that? If they were to find criminality it should be investigated. What also should be investigated is the slush fund congress has for paying off people for real crimes that have been committed by senators and representatives. If it's good enough for Trump, it's good enough for everyone else. Right?

If you're investigating a robbery, and someone comes up to your investigating and say "but what you really need to investigate instead of this is the car theft the next town over".
no...your job is that robbery...they don't get to dictate that they stop their investigation with a different one they like more.

You're misconstruing what I said. I didn't say they should drop their issue with Trump, I said the congressional slush fund should ALSO be investigated.

Agreed. All levels of government should have continuous oversight and investigation.

Really? So if you commit tax fraud and the IRS fails to find it did you not commit tax fraud or are they just inept?

So cheering for your team, the way others cheer for their team, does make you the "partisan asswipe" previously mentioned?

I don't really have a team, it's just more of an ideal what a team should look like. Once all your s***bags and theirs go down maybe I can have a team.

Something that usually results in fec hearings and perhaps a fine.
Interesting the fec is not investigating this and sdny is.
As if sdny knows fec laws better.

These two decisions actually, so far as I have found thus far, seem reasonable. No President can interfere with the application of justice, thus records held by a President must be available to Grand Juries when necessary to allow them to decide their cases fairly. Of course, this takes into account that the purpose of a Grand Jury is not investigative... a Grand Jury reviews an investigation and determines if sufficient evidence exists to proceed with trial. So far as I am aware, evidence requested by a Grand Jury cannot be used in a criminal proceeding. It is sealed, as are all Grand Jury documents.

I have no issue as long as the GJ does what it's supposed to and doesn't go beyond their rules.

And in the scheme of things, this decision does not mean Trump must now hand over anything; it simply means the lower courts now have to consider whether or not there is a legitimate reason to have the tax returns released to a Grand Jury. That's a whole 'nother question. All this ruling did was strike down the argument that a President is absolutely immune from participating in a criminal investigation, not that Donald Trump must supply tax returns

I have never believed anyone should be immune from investigations no matter what. Trump, Biden, Clinton... they should never be immune from a legal investigation.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court also ruled that Congress cannot simply demand records as a part of a politically-biased oversight.

That is what I was trying to find actual language for.

In total, I see today's rulings as a win for the US. The criminal investigation can continue; the worst that can come of it is that Trump will, after his Presidency ends in January 2025, have to answer allegations based on the lies of Michael Cohen. But he does not have to continue to fight Congress over his legitimacy as President.

Late breaking: According to Nervous Nancy, she still thinks she is above the law... "sigh"... why am I not surprised?

TheRedneck

All of that was well defined and well said. Thanks for saying what I was trying to say.

If that's the case then I don't think it should be considered until he's a regular citizen again.

No, the President is not above the law just because he's President.

I never said he's above the law. But if this is something that happened before he was president then why should it effect him today? I'm all for justice, but I'm not for one-sided justice.

If someone committed a crime, and the statute of limitations has not expired, then they should be charged.

The People need to rise up or something. This is outrageous.

Rise up and fight...against transparency of government officials???

Weird rally call bro.

Government officials ?

At least for the last 3 and a half years.

Of course New York prosecutorial HACKS went back 8.

Honest question.

Should public prosectors pursue poltiical vendettas because their team lost last go round?

Public prosecutors shouldn't have a political leaning to begin with. Something either is or isn't law.
I have no issue with a persistent investigation into high government officials of any sides. This should be an actual position elected every 2 or so years by the SCOTUS and their main job is to track down any illegal activity of any given president, vp, etc.
you can never have enough checks and balances.

It has nothing to do with supporting Trump or not, I do not believe congress has the right to ask for anyone's returns for political reasons. Their track record with Trump shows they care nothing about the law, they are only interested in political attacks.

I don't care about Congress and I think making your tax returns public to run for President is about virtue signaling nonsense.

I'm concerned about potential criminal activity and the Grand Jury.

I don't understand why his tax returns are still such a big deal. Is it a law to show these, or simply a recent trend?

This suit wasn't about Presidential elections, it was about possible criminality reported to the Manhattan DA.

and since it's a criminal case - it's going to be public record.

See what they did there?

I agree... ALL seating house and senate should produce their tax records for public scrutiny

Lol
As if sdny is as expert with tax law as the irs.
Or as expert with campaign finance law as the fec.
What a joke.

As to your "lack" of team, were there one above semi-pro level you would join. So your status as "partisan asswipe" is not in jeopardy.

Funny how the organizations tasked with finding specific issues have none, seems only from those with a political axe to grind.

Its easy.
Just win elections.
Oh wait, that takes actual issues and policies.
