I disagree, the right thing to do is by in it's own definition, the right thing to do.

Being nice, compassionate, insightful, kind, and just good in general isn't always the right thing to do.
Righteous anger does have its place.

That is beta think - Nobody respects betas.

People will respect you more if you are honest. It helps to be right too.
You accused me of being condescending in my response to your post above. Your post was insulting, confrontational, and added nothing to the conversation. No one who knows me would ever think of me as a beta...hence my (factual) reply

There is a time to share information, a time to listen and not talk, and a time to say, "You're full of crap and I'm not going to hear it."

Happened just tonight to me. Should have thought about the piece he was carrying I suppose, didn't think about that too much.
Yep...you don't bring an intellectual discussion to a gun fight.

Well...
If you talk the assailant into shooting himself...

You could win a gun fight with your mind alone.
It's plausible.

in 30 years of marriage, I have learned one thing that dwarfs the other bits of wisdom.

You can either be right, or be happy, pick one.

In this day and age keeping a marriage for 30 years is a wonderful accomplishment, congratulations! i have to agree with you in general but fortunately I married a woman who loves to debate instead of argue. The distinction between the two words is the difference between staying married and being single.

These days having a relationship last a whole week is pretty dam impressive lol.

My X and I argued. I wish we debated.
Most of its my fault I was immature and selfish.

I'm currently looking for a debate partner.
I don't do arguments any more.
I learned better.

ALWAYS choose being kind and compassionate over being right. ALWAYS.
And when you know, deep down in your heart, that you're right and someone else is wrong... it's because God gave YOU that knowledge to help YOU... and NOT because God needed you to tell the other person how wrong they are. God will tell them Himself, in His own way and in His own time. It's not YOUR job. It's YOUR job to be loving and kind in spite of it.

Beautiful, and graceful: with or without the concept of God.
