I would think there are probably a couple of Fall fans here.

I was thinking about my fav songs from them but there were 2 from their 2004 album "The Real New Fall LP" that just stick in my mind. Also, for the socialist out there, MES (Mark E Smith - the vocalist) had some of the most pro socialist screeds that exist. If there was ever a man that could have done it right it would have been him - however he was a complete and total alcoholic so I guess with a grain of salt...

Anyway, these two songs - wow:

And:

I suppose these two because I loved them anyway and the "lyrics" remind me that even 15 years ago some people saw how stupid things were going. A tall glass of water I guess, but what it is and that.

Another bit, I was lucky enough to see them in the USA some time ago. Probably around 2004 or so? I forget. I was a good show. I suppose I am a fanboy for them a bit. Own over 20 of their (which is really his) works.

I remember they did a cover of some American garage bands song back in the late 80's. It is called Black Monk Theme Song. I bought the cd (Extricate) I think in 1988 or so. My first love was into new wave things, always with the guilt trippy everyone is ok crap. I kept playing this song to her, she finally asked me one day, "do you think about me when you listen to this?"

I said, "YES I DO."

Soon we were no more.

One more I think...this is the first song I heard from The Fall, same album as the Monk song.. Once again totally psychic on what is these days I think..

"I hear you telephone thing, listening in"

I had some of their stuff on vinyl way back when. I really like 'Mansion', this short instrumental tune off the
Nation's Saving Grace album.

Another one I like:

If you like the Fall, 999 has a new album out. Bish Bash Bosh, excellent. The outcasts have some new tunes also that are good.

I had that one too, way back when. Nice to see bands survive over time.

Will check these out, thanks

I love the Fall! Great to see some Fall fans here. My favorite albums of theirs are from the Brix Smith era. Black Month Theme is a cover of a song by The Monks. You should check them out - very interesting band!

In keeping with ATS, one of my favorite Fall songs is "Hey Luciani", basically a conspiracy theory song about the murder of pope John Paul I.

Never heard d that before!! Awesome!!

Yeah, I miss these guys too! Great, strange music and topics... as only punk can do. Still relevant today.

That is weird!! Why is 80’s punk still relevant today??!!

Oh, yeah. Out of touch 70 year old men screwing over the middle class... but in this future they can only do it by breaking the law... let’s have a real impeachment!!

Who needs riots? Black Lives Matter vs White Supremacy (yeah, ignore all other races, you dumb bastids!), wildfires, heatwaves, pollution, plastics, mass shootings,.. whatever!

The 80’s still has the same message etched in it. And it is one of hope! Weird, huh??!!

The Fall..
