So for months, some people have consistently scoffed and mocked the idea that these Covid lockdowns will cause secondary effects like increases in mental health issues and violence and that we should consider these secondary effects when we are weighing the pros and cons of these lockdowns.

Now Bill de Blasio is blaming the Covid lockdowns for the explosion of violence in NYC.

I hate to say we told you so.

Of course, the only reason he's saying this now is to try to cover his ass for his lack of leadership, after allowing riots and chaos in his city for reasons of political correctness.

I have no doubt that the riots and unrest wouldn't have been quite as bad if people hadn't been locked in like animals with cabin fever for months, although that's no excuse for the failure of local leaders to properly respond to and quell the violence.

It's just interesting though that he accidentally admitted those concerns we had months ago--about the unintended negative effects of the lockdowns--were actually warranted.

This is what happens when your strategy is always to lie. Sometimes you forget what you lied about and you contradict yourself later.

It's kind of a no-brainer. Remove people from their normal routines, their families, their friends and jobs and what do you expect? Humans for the most part are social creatures. Isolating them causes a lot of mental issues in the long term.

I kept on working during all this, but the sheer anxiety and stress around the shutdown, the possibility of getting laid off, worries about my kids getting laid off and so on has really done me in. I barely sleep now and my stress levels at work are maxed out. Normally, I'll readily go into work if called on my day off, but no longer. I refuse to answer the phone. I want my time away from that stress.

This needs to end and people need to get back to normalcy and work.

The misery of quarantine is going to be far reaching. People losing their jobs, careers destroyed, homes lost. Inevitably It will lead to divorce and family’s breaking up. Depression, drug, and alcohol abuse on the rise. All for a little virus? Or is it part of someone’s master plan. The President was campaigning on the economy and record low unemployment. Well that’s shot to hell.
Think about it.

How much blood does De Blasio have on his hands for telling New Yorkers to ignore Covid-19 warnings out of the Trump Administration in February?

How many families are grieving needlessly because De Blasio and his nutjob Governor enabled THOUSANDS of Nursing Home Deaths?

It's disgusting. They blame Trump for deaths they directly caused.

Yeah and unfortunately they'll vote for more of it. Some of them will flee and then vote for the same crap wherever they move to. It's insanity.

Exactly, we poke and blame the leaders, but NY is the eastern liberal meccah, right after the liberal west coast elites in Cali.

These people are voting all in for these losers.

Actually, if you look closer, NY is a civil battleground among the Democrats.

How so?

Progressive Dems are vying for power and to do so, they need more than just Cali, if they can take NY, their power will further grow. They're doing this by challenging encumbent Democrats of the old party and challenging them with pro AOC endorsed Progress Dems...and it's working. Encumbent Dems are collapsing among this civil war and Pelosis has remained mum as she has probably realized that AOC is the future of the soon to be Socialist Democrat Party, SDP.

Your experience has almost mirrored mine. I've been working from home since March 16th, both of my (adult) kids got laid off and there are cuts being talked about at the corporation I contract for. My son works in the concert business and they're not looking to get back to work until next year. My daughter went back to work after a couple of months. It's not fun being on pins & needles, we have no cushion after having to pay in three grand this year from that POS ACA program.

To top that off, I quit smoking cigars last summer after I had a heart attack, and there are days I would LOVE to sit on the porch with a cigar and de-stress. Can't do it. If I do I may not stop, I love premium cigars. Not the nicotine, but the whole experience minus that.

So there are days I'm pretty wound up, those days I often play my bass with some good hard rock to get the anxiety out with positive energy. I wake up every night between 3-4am and it takes time to get back to sleep. That bothers me more than most other things.

Well I dont think it is just those factors alone, I think that it is also the demoralization of police officers, its also the taking away fo consequences for people. If you see people that are getting arrested and then five minutes later they are out free again. and this has been stated openly by people and organizations on twitter.

I saw on twiiter for the protest in Seattle someone telling people to write down phone numbers on your arm so you can call this organization to bail you out.

If there’s anything thing I’ve learned about politics in the last four years, it’s that the elected officials in the Democrat party have zero integrity, accountability or credibility.
