Why does most modern classical music sound of fear?

What is modern classical music scared of? It usually sounds terrified. What is it frightened of? Its own irrelevance!

I wouldn't know what it sounds like. I stopped listening to new stuff when I went to a concert that featured Glass.

Fearful? I don't know about that

Here are two of my current classical favorites.

Mason Bates Ford's Farm is a testament to progress centering around the development of the automobile, hence, Ford.
A completely joyous expression of enthusiastic modernity.

The second is Amen, a band piece expressing the battles of darkness and light, the struggle between chaos and order.
One might find this a fearful thing, others a challenge of modern society.

Glass and John Adams and others are minimalist composers, along with many others. Classical music has developed over the centuries from mid evil church music into the symphonic style and onward. Instruments have been invented over time adding to the resplendent ability of humans to be creative in more and more complex ways. This minimalist music is just that, discovering the complexities of subtle nuance in in tightly repetitive form.

My wife does not like it either so I have to go solo when listening to it. Same with jazz, she can't abide it.

My moods vary so my listening choices do as well. A lot of Classical is dark because it was written during very dark periods. It's the same with Blues, that was started during a very dark period.

I have to be in just the right mood to listen to Classical but I can listen to smooth Jazz often. Mostly the smoky lounge late at night style. It's extremely comforting and relaxing.
