For the past two years members of this site have been saying that AOC was a flash in the pan and would be ousted come 2020. Well it looks like that isn't going to happen.

New York held their primaries yesterday and AOC walked away with nearly 80% of the vote. Her biggest competitor, Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, was a former CNBC anchor and had the backing of Wall Street and a number of Trump donors.

We once again see that this District are fed up with establishment Dems and would rather go for someone more progressive.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in New York, Working Families Party backed Jamaal Bowman is looking set to topple longtime incumbent Eliot Engel. Another case of a progressive Dem being chosen over the corporate backed candidate.

I know it may hurt for you ask to hear but AOC and her ilk aren't going anywhere. If anything it looks like the support for them is growing by the day.

I can’t believe anyone thought she was going anywhere.
She is the poster child future of the Democratic Party.

Also it’s another perfect example of the American voter.
Oh! Shiny pony!

AOC and the progressives are the reason I no longer vote Democrat. Congrats on your new far left democrat party.

I was hoping a moderate Democrat would win

I guess enough people wanted her to represent them.

I can't say I'm too surprised after the 4 years we've just had. Full blown socialism was a non-starter until the right gave them exactly what they wanted/needed in the form of 4 years of Trump. Trump "proved" (notice I put that in quotes) that the left had been right all along and the Republican party was driven mostly by various forms of hatred and racism.

As soon as the right turned it's back on moderate Republicans, they made damn sure the far left would have a wide open door for future elections. The American vote works on polar opposites. If you have an extreme on one side in an election, the polar opposite will be on the other side. Trump is anything but a moderate.

What do you expect? The various "anti-hate" groups on the left have been obvious fronts for various Marxist ideologies for decades. And it's not because it's not wrong to hate. Of course it's wrong to hate and be a bigot. But the reason these movements are brimming with Marxists is it's good cover! It works!

The exact same thing is true of the environmentalists and the vegan types. Fundamentally, there is really nothing wrong with loving nature and loving the planet and being concerned about the environment. But those movements also just happen to be diametrically at odds with most right wing interests and so, they're perfect cover for Marxists.

So you get a fat windbag like Trump who doesn't have well-written speeches that were written by people who know how to soften things the right way and he gets up there and makes you (the conservative base) look absolutely terrible. And you cheer for him and defend him religiously and guess what? That makes the Marxist's job easy.

You have nobody to blame but yourself if you end up in a socialist stinkhole of a country. You had the chance to support more balanced and moderate Republicans but you had to have this lunatic.

Sounds rigged as well as something I'd expect to hear coming out of Russian or Chinese state propaganda outlets about the overwhelming success of their dear leader.

AOC = Dear Leader of the 'new normal' cult.

Not surprising, it's 2020... corona-virus, fires, crashes, locust swarms, earthquakes, AOC re-elected.

It could be that voting is now being sabotaged by ‘teens on TikTok. : O

Sure. But there was mail in balloting ahead of the delayed primary. So there is that manipulated factor to consider...

It's funny how you guys bleat on endlessly about the "dangers of mail-in voting" but I haven't seen any of you express concern over things like having only one polling place for over 600,000 citizens.

Maybe the reasons why AOC and her ilk are doing so well
is all the free stuff they promise.

It's a sad day when you rest your hopes on the shoulders of a 30 year old bartender.

Maybe when she becomes president she will give you a garbage disposal subsidy.

Hard to believe but this is a perfect example of the voters being dumber than who they are voting for.
It’s astonishing that there are that many idiots in NY packed into her district.

I think it’s funny watching you Republicans make fun of someone because they worked their way through college doing blue collar jobs.

Shows exactly who you really are.

I didn't make fun of her for working to get through college.
I make fun of her work history for the five years after college.

She got a fancy private university degree."cum laude" "with praise" and still worked as a waitress.

And im not a Republican

This was the Democratic primary, we could honestly care less, we await the Ideological fight coming up with John Cummings.

He's retired NYPD and has tremendous support among Law Enforcement community.

While that district is solidly blue it could be a turning point, but who knows, we shall see.

In the current climate do you really see a distinct that went overwhelmingly with a progressive candidate over an establishment candidate voting for a cop?
